I was reading this post about whether or not there would be a core pantheon in the 4E player's handbook, and it made me wonder. Does anyone know if the deities will still "work" the way they do in 3.5E? (I skimmed through the last 15 pages of posts and didn't see a thread for this, but then again, I am legally blind. If this is being discussed elsewhere, please point me to the thread.)
What I mean is, will each deity still have an alignment, a favored weapon, a handful of domains, etc., and will these things still be important for clerics? I've already heard that alignment is getting an overhaul, which makes me nervous, but I haven't heard anything about the other god-stuff.
Religion is very important in my current campaign: all of the PCs have a patron deity, and most of the adventures revolve around religious themes. I'd rather not re-invent the wheel when I go to 4E...know what I mean?
