Dr Who Xmas special

MonsterMash

First Post
Well I saw this last night which was the first appearance by the new Doctor, David Tennant and was xmas themed. It was mixed, not a bad episode, but it showed that trying to fit to xmas made things a bit weak, I'll avoid spoliers, but its set on earth post the Slithereen episodes.

I enjoyed it, although it had its flaws. It'll be interesting to see how Tennant evolves as The Doctor. Interesting to see that Earth now has planetary defences!

They are keeping with the manic professor, it seems. I like that. I prefer the manic ones to the stoic ones.

They're playing him a bit more vicious, though.

But please, couldn't we have gone without one more Regeneration Gone Slightly Wrong.

I liked it quite a bit...except I didn't like the PM bit at the end. I did like the reference to Torchwood. Mostly because I liked the PM, really.

Overall, Tennant is off to a god, if slighly underused start.

All of his regenerations must go wrong!! All of them! Because he's always getting into trouble and getting himself hurt. How could he possibly have an "ordinary" regeneration? :p

I quite enjoyed Tennant's performance and look forward to seeing more. I hope he stays with the series longer than Eccleston did, assuming it's renewed for more than another season. I'm not sure how I feel about the increased number of pop-culture references in the new series, but they didn't make me too unhappy during the episode so I guess I can't complain.

I'm looking forward to the Torchwood spin-off too. :D

The Magic Growing Hand bit will have the fans just a-screeching over at Outpost Gallifrey...

I really liked this episode. Billie Piper continues to show how beautiful a normally proportioned woman can be, Tennant looks like he's having fun, and there was even a nod to Faction Paradox.

Much fun.

And the Magic Growing Hand bit also helps to explain the age old mystery of how Romana was able to change her appearance so many times when she regenerated for the first time, which I thought was very cool.
