I was searching the net when I stumbled across this info about a
live-action, American DBZ movie. It kind of surprised me since I hadn't
even heard anything about it.
Well, the time is certainly right, fx-wise. You can get some fights
that could blow The Matrix off the screen.
Too bad Jackman's gone. That's a shame. He'd be great.
As to the others, I'd say the casting is dead on for Vegita and Nappa.
I'm not thrilled with Emmerich as director, though.
And when it comes to shooting the Cell Saga, the only man who can play
Hercule (aka, Mr. Satan) is...Ron Pearlman!
He's got the size, the voice, and his hair's already curly, let him grow
it out to an afro. You can almost picture him shouting out egomanical
nonsense.
EDIT: Replaced quote with a more up to date one.

DB Live Action Movie
FOX has apparently gained the rights to a live-action movie of the
popular
anime/manga series "Dragonball Z". The info can be found at DBZ's
official
site, http://www.dragonballz.com.
And, Dragonball's creator, Akira
Toriyama, made this short statement about the live-action DBZ movie
(from
http://www.dragonballz.com): "Recent movies have surprised us by
entering
such territory that used to belong only to comics with wonderful
technology
and wisdom. As a big movie fan, I am truly looking forward to the movie
version of Dragonball. I hope you will entertain millions and millions
of
people with the brand new Dragonball of a totally new dimension that
surpasses my imagination.
The movie will hope fully be realesed 2003 or 2004.
Here is a list of what might be the cast;
Director and Friends:
Roland Emmerich (Universal Soldier, Stargate, Independence Day,
Godzilla, The Patriot) is the director. The script was written by Tedi
Sarafian (who wrote the script for Tank Girl and Terminator 3: Rise of
the Machines) and by another guy whose name I don't have at the moment.
DBZ creator Akira Toriyama was hired as the films consultant but wanted
too much control over it so FOX made him sign a new contract which
basically gave him the boot.
Cast:
Here's what you've been waiting for. Some actors have signed contracts
and some have simply said they would do it. Some characters have not
been cast yet but those who have are subject to change. Remember,
anything can happen between now and filming. Other actors have been cast
but they are all unknowns and I don't know who they will play. Once I
know I'll put it up here.
Goku - ??? Hugh Jackman was recently fired from this part due to him
holding up production. Who will fill his shoes?
Vegeta - Ray Park (Sleepy Hallow, Star Wars: Episode 1, X-Men). Ray was
their first choice. Then they got Guy Pearce. Then they gave the part
bact to Ray. Make up your god damn mind!
Piccolo - Sam Wheeler (Unknown) This is a new actor. Apparently he's a
big 6'7" black guy with a deep voice. Sounds good to me.
Raditz - Jason Bateman (Teen Wolf Too, Necessary Roughness, The Sweetest
Thing). A lot of people probably have no idea who this guy is. He's been
around for a while and has been on a number of TV shows.
Nappa - Bill Goldberg (Universal Soldier: The Return, WWE Wrestling).
This is a fan favorite for Nappa and even though I think he sucks as an
actor he does look just like Nappa and is probably the best choice.
Tein - Orlando Bloom (Black Hawk Down, Lord Of The Rings, Pirates Of The
Caribbean). I think this is a very good choice. He's probably kinda
skinny but he looks just like Tein with a shaved head.
Bulma - Jessica Alba (P.U.N.K.S., Idle Hands, Dark Angel). Yes, she will
have blue hair.
Puarr, Oolong, King Kai - These guys will be CGI. And don't worry, Puarr
and Oolong will only have small cameos. The voice actors from the show
will do the voices for these characters on the movie.
