I loved the first run of TPoE. Curious about revisions they're making. WotC's take on their own IP tends to have a disproportionate influence on 3pp, so I guess we'll have to wait until next month and see.Woot! Look what else is coming from the Dragonlance Nexus!
It seems like you're allowed to sell conversion guides for previously published stuff, but not sure if there are different rules for actual conversions. Is it correct that people are allowed to earn money selling original 5E Dragonlance adventures on Dmsguild but if you convert previously published material then you have to offer it for free?
They haven’t released the rules yet but currently for other campaigns no.Is it correct that people are allowed to earn money selling original 5E Dragonlance adventures on Dmsguild but if you convert previously published material then you have to offer it for free?
I think there's some gray area. If you poke around DMs Guild, you will see a lot of books of "new" monsters that are 100% monsters from previous editions, being sold for cash, as well as books of previous edition spells. I haven't seen actual adventures or sourcebooks sold that way, though, so that may be the line.Is it correct that people are allowed to earn money selling original 5E Dragonlance adventures on Dmsguild but if you convert previously published material then you have to offer it for free?
Correct. I don't think you can rewrite an existing one and sell it, but if you change enough you likely can. But, the "best" way to handle this is with conversions and advice for how to change things. I have two such products, one of which sells well, and one which does not.It seems like you're allowed to sell conversion guides for previously published stuff, but not sure if there are different rules for actual conversions.
Sourcebooks are definitely allowed. Plenty of them exist on DMSGUILD. As for monsters, converting old ones is "easy" and is by far my biggest seller (though I have a sourcebook that is catching up, as well as a conversion).I think there's some gray area.
