Dushku to star in Buffy spinoff?

Ok... I can't find anything else on the net about this but then I don't frequent fan-sites or boards so I wouldn't know where to look. It's not mentioned on any movie industry site I go to so it all came as a bit of a surprise to see this little news tid-bit on my Free-to-Air TV netguide:

Another Buffy spin-off?

What do you do when the star of your hit television series wants to leave for good? That's the dilemma faced by the producers of long-running fantasy drama, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer".

But insiders say Mutant Enemy, the company behind the series, has the answer: a spin-off series with rogue slayer Faith (Eliza Dushku), who has a recurring guest role on the show.

While no deal has been signed, production president Christopher Buchanan confirmed he is in talks with Dushku for the untitled spin-off.

Dushku is currently shooting crossover guest spots for both "Angel" (the first "Buffy" spin-off) and the original show, now in its seventh season. Lead star Sarah Michelle Gellar is not expected to return after her contract expires at the end of the current season, choosing to concentrate on her movie career.

Umm... what the?

Can anyone fill me in on the details here? Has my TV guide gone completely nuts?

The only comment I have about whether or not this is a good thing is:

Ah, thanks! I knew I couldn't be privy to any information not already known by ten thousand others; aside from me being me, this kinda info doesn't exist for longer than half a second before entering the rumour-mill

Now I must learn to stay away from this forum again... we Aussies are always a season behind so the sheer amount of spoilers in here makes it like a candy store in candyland, with candy half-price!
