Eberron - Cool or Drool?

Sorry, but it has to be said:

I you think Eberron is all about robots, trains, and dinosaurs, you are ignorant. Read up on it.

If you don't like it, that's fine. But don't hate it because you developed an incorrect assumption of the setting's theme based on a bad first impression.

WOTC really screwed up with it's initial promotional material. Dig a little deeper and you might be surprised at what you find.

And he will be wearing the clothes patched together from other settings just re-labled, re-packaged, and re-hashed. ;)

None of which means jack to your mom, Hand. Eberron makes your mother feel like a woman again, and that's what matters.

Eh .... uh ... I feel funny. And not the good kind of funny... :uhoh:

I know. It's weird.

But Eberron is your daddy now, Eric. You will go to football games together. He will teach you how to kill a man and how to love a woman. You will buy him a tie for Father's Day.

I read that FAQ page, Felonius. Not bad. I liked some aspects of that, but I saw the mention of psionics, and got turned off a bit. I think for me, the simpler the better. There does seem to be a "let's put everything we've ever learned about D&D into one world".

The steampunk, railroad, construct aspect of it might be kind of cool. But, I think I might also have prefered a setting rich with nobility, knights in shining armor, and magic-light. But, that would have violated the contest rules, I suppose.

Not interested, but I've always been a homebrewer. I care as much about Eberron as I do about Greyhawk or FR. Or even some of those newfangled settings like Midnight or Scared Lands everyone always talks about.

I'm not anti-Eberron. I like the seemingly pulpy approach they're taking with the setting. But then, I'm working on a world of my own with its own pulp flavor that I like.
