Editable Character sheets for homebrew/house rule heavy games, where to find?

That doc looks cool ( unfortunately right now I'm in linux at work and thus only have openoffice to look at it.) I'll try and edit it and see if I can finangle(sp?) it to what I need, but me and word havent been speaking lately.

AH. Well, good luck with that. In any case, MS Word veiwer can veiw it perfectly, so I think that so long as you don't edit the messed up bits, it will work in that program.

Oh, and be sure to vote in my poll through that link above. I kept it open in case people liked the sheet and found it at a later date

I have a version virtually identical to the WOTC ones done in Excel that can be editted ... posted to a thread in Rules, somewhere. The boards won't let me repost.

I use Hero Forge for all of my characters in all of my games, and you don't need to be a Excel wizard to figure out how to edit things that aren't RAW. I know. I can't code Excel, but I mod Hero Forge all the time. There are columns available for user entered Feats, Skills, and just about everything. If that doesn't work, I finagle the Enhancements page. If that doesn't work, I simply ignore the "!" icon, and mod the final sheet.

I use PCProfiler. It works allright until you hit higher levels, and then it runs out of space. But I find that to be the case with most character sheets anyway.

I make custom sheets for each set of rules I'm using. I just find it isn't worth my while bothering to use anything less (i.e., less suited to my rather specific needs in each instance). I can sympathise when it comes to character sheet problems - I've also changed the skill list for D&D. . . among other things.

InDesign and Acrobat are nice for doing this, and acceptably fast, especially once you've got a base to work from. However, I've found in the past that [Word or Excel] / OpenOffice and the like are also fine for the task.


edit --- Provided that you didn't use "editable" to mean a form-fillable type thing, but rather to mean somewhat customisable, then you might like some of the sheets over at Mad Irishman's (they're cool and worth a look anyway, IMO). Of particular relevance (possibly), there are the generic d20 ones, right here. No default skill list, for starters.

Me also - I was thinking "edible char sheets? WTF? So you can quickly chow down the evidence when the DM asks if you have marked off the Potion of Gaseous Form you used last week?"
