ELH from buy.com

I ordered mine Tuesday, July 23. The USPS status was just updated today to Richmond CA, so I expect it soon.

One thing I did notice is that my credit card was billed for $14.82 instead of $13.82; people who care about this sort of thing might want to check their credit card. For me, I figure that the hours I would spend arguing about the lost dollar are worth more than the dollar itself - I'm not going to bother with it.

As for the people lambasting buy.com as sneaky and underhanded - consider that we are buying the ELH from them because they mistakenly priced the book at a fraction of its true cost. To not expect them to make even more mistakes during the delivery of the mistakenly priced book seems ... somehow unrealistic.

And, IMHO, the more you interact with them, the more chances you give them to screw up.

In the interest of completeness, I'm happy to announce that I finally got my ELH today, in pristine condition, and at the 13.82 price. The only one happier than me about this is my wife who was sick to death of hearing me bitch about it.

BTW, Happy Birthday, Julia Child!

Same here, except that I'm single, and I didn't tell anyone about the annoying delays until I posted a rant about the postal service to my web site on Tuesday. Of course, the book showed up a few days later.

I got an email yesterday from Buy.com saying that the Epic Handbook isn't in stock, but they're still working hard on it. Good thing I bought the Silver Marches last week at my local gaming store, to tide me over. I might have to get the Way of the Samurai, too, if this keeps up.

Way of the Samurai? My way is to just go to my FLGS and buy stuff. Maybe I don't get the discounts that I would from online stores, but I can look through the book before I buy it, make sure the copy is in good condition, and have the book immediately instead of going through the hassle of shipping, tracking lost packages, reorders, etc.

Eh. The closest I've ever gotten to a lost package was the incident I mentioned earlier, where my copy of Prophecies was delivered to the apartment complex down the street, instead of the one I live at. But since gaming books aren't the kind of thing that I typically need right away, I can live usually with delays to save some money, even if it's just CA sales tax.

I have also received mine, in perfect condition at the advertised price of $13.82. My friends who ordered the book the same day that I did, but later in the day, received their books the very next day.
