We're in the same boat then. Ordered on the 19th, and still on order as of two minutes ago. BUT... it's good to know something's happening, and we're not cancelled...

I purchased it on June 27th and I got it last Saturday. For $14, it's worth the wait.

ps BTW, the 'shipping status' at buy.com is not worth the effort. It seems to be a day or two behind and half the data are simply inaccurate.

BTW, I called the number posted above (Thanks!) and it was clearly an error on their side, as their system shows that the customer requested a cancellation (even though I was told it was cancelled because it was on backorder.)

So the guy raised a new order and is also processing a price matching something or other, so I'll be charged the new price of $25 and credited the difference to get it back to $14. Woohoo! Buy.com comes through and helps me out!

Meanwhile, I'll never buy another HP product again thanks to their extreme unresponsiveness on the customer service phone number...

I just got mine on Friday

It took about a week between ordering and receiving it (and yes, I was charged $14.82!), so if it's been less than a week, be patient.

1. What date, exactly, did you order the book?

2. Did you receive an e-mail telling you it had shipped, and/or did your order status change?

Terribly sorry to put you out. I merely was wondering about the term 'cautiously optimistic'. I'm not sure if it's a Bush thing, a post 9/11 thing, or something that's been around for years and I just never noticed it. I'm not sure where the political flame fest is you're so worried about.

Back to the matter at hand: So far, my checking account hasn't been charged for the ELH. Did people get their emails/change in status the same day as their accounts were charged, or was thei a delay? It seems others are getting action on their orders, but I, and others, are still in stasis...
