D&D 5E (2014) Elven Rogue with advantage and Elven Accuracy. Is diping into fighter to get the Archery Fighting Style overkill?

The ready action takes place after the trigger is completed. Not only that Saying 'anything' isn't a valid option because doing nothing isn't a possiblity. Even a corpse is doing something all the time.
The the trigger has to have a perceivable start and end.
