I believe that the very action of talking about our hobby with others on an internet message board makes us different enough - in a number of important ways - that we probably can't consider ourselves "normal" gamers.

I agree that the fact we are here on a message board talking about our hobby differentiates us in some way from others that game.

With that said, I like to think I am fairly on the normal side of things within the gamer community. As in someone wouldn't pick me out at a convention gaming table as "different". Hard saying though - so I went with "maybe"!

Right.

I don't think that we'd necessarily "stand out" in a crowd of other gamers, but I think our tastes and experiences are far enough outside the gamer-norm that, for instance, the sort of marketing angle that will be ideal for your average gamer will not be ideal for the sort of gamer we'd find on this forum.

Yeah, I would agree with this.

I went withte same, but I think a lot of Enworld posters, expecially those who psot a lot, are more involved inteh hobby than the average gamer. A lot of people here seem to:

Spend a lot of hours talking about the game (posting)

Play a wide variety of games.

Have experiences with the game going back 20+ years.

I know it is not everyone, but it seems to be quie few posters here.

I guess I don't look that different from most of the 'GMy' type gamers at the D&D Meetup. And there's another academic in my current Monday group, too!

This is a very valid point.
