Enterprise 10-30-02

How many Voyager races are more than one shot races.

1. Borg - enough said.

2. Kazon - All militaristic and trying to acquire Voyager tech.

3. The hunter - Cannot remember their name but all they did was hunt.

I seem to recall a fair amount of diversity in the races (those that communicated with the crew) on Voyager. Can of worms? Maybe. I'm sure a number of one-note races can also be named from that series but I'd be curious to see how many with depth could be pointed out before discarding the notion. :)

While I can certainly see your point, there have been exceptions to the racial norms. We got to see Vulcans that didn't suppress emotion on Enterprise last season, and Next Generation had an episode with the Ferengi scientist who developed a special shield allowing a vessel to actually fly into a star's corona without harm. Over on Deep Space Nine, I'd say both Rom and Nog qualify as "nonstereotypical Ferengi." Alexander, son of Worf, is a "nonstereotypical Klingon," or at least one alternate future self is - he was a peacemaker striving to end war.

The examples are there, they're just sometimes few and far between.

That is not diversity. Everyone you mentioned pretty well gets ridiculed by the rest of his race for being different from the rest of them.

1: Everything is red!

2: What about blue?

1: That's just another shade of red!

Dude, you're just being silly. I think you just throw out these generalizations without examining the actual cases, then defend them out of habit. Tell ya what, go through the episode guide and point out the races introduced, then make your case, please. Start with... (Pardon any bad spelling, please.) Telaxians? Ocompa? Wasn't there a Bejoran murderer on one episode? Species 842 (#?) from liquidic space turned out to originally be defender their alt space, then switched back to invaders, right? :)

I saw this episode. The Scoopme review compared it to "Seven Samuri." I, who have not seen that movie in years, actually thought of "Blazing Saddles."

What the miners really needed was a black sheriff, and the Klinogs had been dispatched by Hedly Lammar, and when they were really serious they would send in Mongo - just as soon as they finished eating the beans.

a friend of mine mentioned that too (maybe Scoopme was where he got it from...)

i didn't see the comparison. i always think of The Seven Samurai in terms of the individually recruited heroes, not the villagers

well, I saw it as magnificent seven, which is the western version of said movie. The individually hiring of all the guys is important, but the protecting the town from ruffians was equalling important. Would comparing it to the A-Team have been better do you think?

a bunch of people got shot at, but not hit. hmmmm.....yep, A-Team it is! :D

and let's face it, when you compare, the Magnificent Seven bites

Does that make the Vulcan BA since she went hand to hand?

Mag 7 was a very good movie. Good acting, interesting characters, great score. 7 Sam was also a good movie. I think they both hold up very well.
