Enterprise - Question

Airwolf

First Post
Greetings all,

*** Possible spoiler ahead ***

I caught an episode of Enterprise about a week ago. I don't know what it was called because I missed the very beginning. Here is a brief summary:

Enterprise is damaged; I think they said by a mine. The crew sends out a distress call. The call is answered and they are directed to a repair facility. The facility only wants some small payment for the work to be done. They agree. They navigator is killed (actually kidnapped) to become a CPU for the facility.

I hope that is enough to jog everyone's memory.

The question I have is, did we just see the beginning of the borg in that episode?

If this has been discussed, sorry for bringing it up again.

I'm pretty sure that was just the SETI project trying to do some distributed computing in the future since they stillhavn;t found any intelligent extraterrestrial life..

Sorry.. bad joke..

Actually Q tossed the Enterprise into a far off quadrant, not bringing them to us. I don't think that was Borgishness going on there but stranger things have happened that don't jibe with previous series.

i don't believe so... didn't Q bring the borg from an entirely different quadrant in TNG?

I don't think Q 'brought' the Borg. He sent the TNG crew across the universe to the delta quadrant where the Borg were.

I just don't remember any explanation as to where the Borg came from. I was thinking that this episode could have tired to give that explanation. Then the new question would be; how did they get to the delta quadrant?

To answer my own question, some how they found a trans-warp conduit and used it to set up operations in the delta quadrant.

Thanks for the replies so far.

..but you understood what i meant :D

and besides, in TNG terms, that space station is fairly close to Earth (even though it was 4 months (?) away for Enterprise), TNG's Enterprise could make that trip in no time

[edit - (don't warp speeds increase exponentially?)]

So by that last, warp 4 in one show is not the same as warp speed in another. Since this is pre-TOS, maybe it's slower, still?
that's what i was thinking...:)

We can perhaps pyut the Borg even farther back, though this is speculation...

Guinan's home planet was destroyed by the borg. We see her on Earth in the time of Mark Twain. If we presume Guinan became a wanderer (and came to Earth) because of said destruction, than the Borg were about assimilating people back whjen we were still using steamboats.
