ETERNALS Trailer Teaser 2

What I saw of Inhumans... wasn't all that good. There are probably reasons why Marvel Television got folded into overall Marvel Studios.
"Inhumans" was, in my opinion, poorly done and failed to capture the nature of the beast. It also failed to capture the imagination of the viewing audience. It was another Kirby drawn property that didn't carry any of that esthetic to the screen, oddly enough. Except for Lockjaw, the Inhumans weren't suffciently... inhuman. I think that they used Medusa's hair once, maybe twice (it's been a while and wasn't really memorable). That's probably owing to SFX costs. Their 'city' felt like an upscale shopping mall to me.

EDIT Regarding the Kirby esthetic, they managed to do a reasonable blending of it, with practical considerations taken into account, in things like the Asgardian armour, in the Thor movies.

There's not much odd about it. The Kirby aesthetic (for people) is not terribly realistic, and has a hard time looking good when you put it on a live-action person. For technology, it is fundamentally out of line with what the rest of science-fiction on screen has told us technology looks like, which makes it a hard sell from a design standpoint.

That's why I mentioned how the Thor movies managed to balance that esthetic with real life considerations. As to the technology part, there's nothing at all wrong with shooting for a different look in SF. I would rather like to see art directors break the mold, from time to time. While "Jupiter Acsending" didn't do well at the box office, it at least gave a novel interpretation of high technology. Its biggest issue, in my opinion, was not having a novel story to tell along with that imagery.

the eternals are as powerful as thanos? Jumping ahead is the black knight an eternal? I don't remember him having any powers other than a magic weapon and a magical horse?

I don't remember him being an Eternal. I think that he's just along for the ride with his armour and cursed sword.

It isn't a matter of right or wrong. It is about viewer expectations, and what that implies for effectiveness of the presentation.

Kirby aesthetics run a significant risk of looking... silly, cartoonish, or unserious to a current screen audience.

The Black Knight is just a guy with a cool sword (the sword is magic and cursed) his only canon connection with the Eternals is that he hooked up with Sersi while they were both Avengers - which makes me think he may be in this for the Love Triangle drama. Not sure what else the MCU is going to do other than ride the Jon Snow fan wagon.

The Inhumans was inhumanly bad and everything about it was just bad production decisions - set and costume design, the choice to limit make up to basic humans, the ridiculous character choices (cutting Medusas hair, giving Gorgon leather boots, killing Triton). They seem to have spent all their budget on the Lockjaw animation and forgotten about the rest.

Kirbys colour palette works for comic books but Im not sure it would look so good in live action. Thor Ragnarok did incorporate it some and I think the Eternals costumes will show some of the aesthetic too but toned down for more 'real world' interaction

There's a tiny bit of Kirby's trademark chest disks in the costumes, highlighted when they invoke their powers or are 'joining', but none of the shoulder flares and not much in the way of capes. So very understated and barely visible Kirby elements. The ship isn't really anything like what he would have done.

The trailer doesn't draw me in. Not seeing anything interesting in it.

Maybe because I don't see any big pew pew...explosion big...run run blow it up...type things abounding in it?

I'm not sure...but I was thinking to myself as I watched the trailer...that I wasn't really all the eager to watch it in the theater as other movies I've seen trailers for recently.
