Sure they could...they weren't there yet. That whole scene just bugged me. They had just had the "if you miss you'll kill us both because of the pressurized cabin" discussion and then he goes and shoots through the window? Sure, maybe he got startled and panicked, but I just thought it was lame. One of the worst endings since Snake Eyes. (I hated that movie too...)

Maybe I'll head over into the OT forum and start a worst movies thread...

Yep, but now that I remember back, the Baby Bear bit was kind of lame. Anyone who calls a person over the age of 5 Baby Bear needs to have hteir head examined.

heh. The only thing I can come up with is that he was the youngest member of the crew. usually, that means you get stuck with some embarrassing nickname.

[Simplicity]

Event Horizon was a great horror movie. It was far better in the theater
than it would be at home. Literally the first scene in the movie (the
spinning space station focusing in on the window) almost made me sick
in the theater. It was a nice disarming technique right off the bat.

There's a lot of cheap scares in the movie (LOUD opening doors) that don't have the same shock value seen outside the theater either.

Not as good, but disturbing and Lovecraftian... and Sam Neil-y is Mouth of Madness.
