Everquest Role Playing Game

I'm unhappy with the bindings on my Creature Collections 1 & 2. They are quite flimsy and I expect them to fall apart within a year or two. I have a Mage: The Ascension book - same thing. Bleh. It's not just White Wolf though folks, my 3E PHB that I bought in August of 2000 is getting pretty flimsy and loose, and I do NOT mistreat my books. I'm actually considering buying a new PHB, though my buddy tells me to wait until it actually falls apart. Meanwhile, my friend's 1E books are rock-solid and collecting dust after 20-odd years.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd pay an extra 5-10 bucks for a book that would last 20+ years. Publishers - today's game book bindings SUCK.

Must be luck of the draw, I picked my copy up at GenCon and have not seen any issues or problems. The book is nicly put together and packed with stuff!

I haven't had any trouble recently, but the worst bindings I have ever seen were on Warhammer 3rd Edition books. All of them (including 40k 1st Ed, which came out just prior to that) fell apart with very little effort.

I am very pleased with the binding on the AD&D 1e books. Although my players had taken to referring to my PHB as softcover, because the cover had taken so much of a beating and seen so much use that by the time I retired it for 2e it was very pliable.

I dunno about now, but when Vampire & Werewolf first came out, White Wolf was notorious for the terrible editing of their products.

The original Clanbook: Malkavian (details on a race of insane vampires) even had a joke about it: one page in the rather silly book was numbered "Page XX," a reference to countless goofs in White Wolf products like, "If a mortal sees a Vampire use this power, it is a clear violation of the Masquerade (see page XX)." Apparently, "XX" was a spaceholder that was supposed to be replaced by page numbers once the books were laid out; invariably, several "page XX"'s would be forgotten.

UPDATE: Just to let everyone know, White Wolf is sending me a new book out to replace the one that is messed up. They were extremely helpful and considerate regarding this problem. Very fine folks at White-Wolf.

Thakkar, you might consider changing the title of this thread, and/or editing your first post, especially if you're concerned that people might be misinterpreting your intentions... :)

Don't forget to send them a thank you. People take customer service for granted.

Huh? Rant time! ( I am NOT speaking of any d20 publisher here BTW ) Just cuz I put up with lousy service on a frequent basis, that means I need to go out of my way to THANK someone for getting it right? NO! businesses take CUSTOMERS for granted, and moreso every day. Customer service is a dying art folks, but it doesn't have to be that way. Don't patronize any business who provides inferior service. There are other people out there that will treat you better... with the possible exception of a telephone service company - They ALL seem to suck.

I'll reserve thanking a business for fixing a screw up of theirs if they deliver ABOVE my expectations...

I know what he means, though. Most of my WW books (for DnD) - CCII, R&R, Ravenloft and Denizens of Darkness - make horrible cracking sounds when I open them (Denizens in particular). Although I also have Vampire Dark Ages and Vampire The Masquerade (2e, I believe) and they're holding up just fine.

I didn't know EQ was out, by the way - thanks for the heads up. ;)

Heh, the binding on my 3E PHB, bought the day 3E came out, fell apart after two months. This was a notorious problem with the 1st printing.
