Fallen Angel Ch2 [IC] - Calling Sherlock, Acid_Crash, Thels, Greegan

"Never heard of that 'No-God'" says Akaros. "And it doesn´t seem to be a very useful name, you know. I´m a no-god, too. Anyway, as he said, it´s not like if we were going to chase old tales because a old man says so."

When the fat man arrives, Akaros looks up at him. "No. And you should do some exercise before you do so. Where´s the war?"

Fat Jack laughs at your insult, taking it as a most hilarious joke. He struggles for breath as his girth seems to shake with his mirth. "Ah that I should that I should, maybe liftin a few pints 'll do the trick. The holy war, you mean you havent heard of it? His holiness, the Shriah of the Thousand Temples has called all of the men of the Empire to war. I am going to Mommen, to hear the Shriah speak."

*Akaros, you know from your religious background, that the Thousand Temples is the institution that sees over the worship of all the Spirit Gods that the men of the Three Seas follow. Though you had not heard of a new Shriah or the Holy War.*

"Holy War?" Michael looks clueless. "Ehhh, what exactly are we getting ourselves into. Spill the details, please."

Fat Jack looks at you incredulously, not really believing that you havent heard of the war yet. He shakes his head and answers, "Well like I said, the Shriah has stated that he will declare a holy war. We are on our way to find out against who and to join. I think itll be them sorcerous guilds, their ways are just so opposed to the Thousand Temples what with them declaring themselves better than so called gods and such. I have seen what some of them can do, they aint foolin no one with their parlor tricks. It could be the Fanim too, heathens who have occupied the ancestral lands of the Empire. Took the southern part of the empire some 200 years ago. But really I would place my coin on the sorceror guilds. Once the Shriah has declared the holy war in Mommen, then we are joining up and reaping the spoils. War creates too many opportunities not to take advantage of it." He laughs again and takes a deep gulp of his ale.

"Wars aren´t bad" says Akaros. "At least some of them. In many, you spend monts just walking and camping near a walled city, and most die of dysentery rather than by the sword and fire. But I see that a a sign! The times are coming, they are saying now. They tell me."

He abruptly turns to Nalya: "And where do you say is that No-god fellow?"

Nalya opens her mouth to answer Michael and Akaros, when the stranger blunders in on their conversation. She immediately shuts it, not wanting more people to learn about what she has to say. She glares at the man for a short moment before returning to silence. She watches with care as the two men at their table talk to the pompous fellow.

As Akaros mentions the No-God, the young woman gives him a quick glare and joins in the conversation, hoping to divert the stranger's attention from the name. She sounds quite interested in what he has to tell, and seems to be rather taken in with the man. This usually works with men like him. Attention, wealth, no brains...

"So, Jack. A holy War, that must be incredible exiting. And it's good that there's men who are willing to fight for their beliefs. - and for the spoils of course..." She sends him a smile and a wink. "Us, I don't think we're really the types for warfare. But it might be interesting to hear what all of the turmoil is about anyway. These kinds of 'holy wars' don't usually begin without a reason, and there's often quite a lot of things happening in its wake. Might be important to learn what's happening down there, anyway."

She turns on her seat to her new companions at the table, hoping that she's right. "Wouldn't you agree?"

"I'm sorry, Nalya, that's your name, right? I don't really believe in fate, or destiny, for that matter. Our actions decide what path we take, and where we end up-not legends. However..." Syfis pauses to take a sip of her drink, "I'm an adventurer first, and philosopher last, and this sounds like a big one if I've ever heard it-although I'm not sure how much we can help."

She smiles, then continues, "Therefore, I'll agree, let's find out some more information about all of this first, religious wars and the no god and all. We'll just cross the next bridge whenever we have to."

*Fat Jack, listening in on what he hasnt been invited to, comments, "Well me an the squire here are heading out tomorrow morning for Mommen. Its about a week on horse from here. Just head north on the road and when you get to the River Jaros then you cant be more than a day away." Just at that moment the waitress brings out a big meal for Fat Jack and he turns to a table nearby to scarf down the stew and ale giving you a few moments peace.*

*Nalya, you remember some of the tales speak of an ancient stronghold of the No-God near the River Jaros. Just in the eves of the Quitharrel Forest south of the River. You have no idea if it is still there or not, but the tales speak of a monolith of solid white stone that contained a spell to keep the tomb sealed.*

"A stronghold, hm?" says Akaros. "But a week is a long travel. Hmmm..."

The cleric looks in his empty glass, and lets the last drops of wine drop in the table. He examines with attention before getting up and exclaiming: "Let´s go."

"Hmm... The river Jaros, huh?" Nalya is silent for a moment, gathering her thoughts. "Well, I've heard it's pretty interesting up there, should give us enough ideas on what to do next. I'm sure there's plenty of adventure up there." She looks at the others at the table, excluding Fat Jack, and picks up the backpack by her stool. "We'd best be going right away. Everyone agreed?"
