... I got the impression they were very religious. And it seems to make sense they'd get the Knowledge associated with their magic, just like Sorcerors do.

I think they mostly do not have Knowledge (religion), since they simply are not religious.

Yeah, they're supposed to not have been raised in churches or cloisters or monasteries or whatever, but just be favored by their god.

But it's silly they would not be able to efficiently learn stuff about their deific sugar daddy.

"Oh yeah, I got spellcasting and fun powers, and wingses, too. I know it's some sort of god that really likes me. I don't even know which, in fact, and totally don't care. Weee! Kewl powarz!"

Sorry, I don't buy that character concept. Even if our favored soul was not tutored in the knowledge of his religion by other mortal followers of his deities, then at least s/he should know about the divine mysteries from the source itself -- the deity.

Very religious? How so?

They do not even have to know a bit about all that. Their power comes to them naturally.

Some might become pious and religious because of that, but it is not a requirement. They do not study religion, like Clerics do.

They do have the Knowledge skill associated with magic in general, that is Knowledge (arcana), which is IMHO not limited to *arcane* magic, despite its name similarity. They also have Spellcraft, so they do possess the knowledge about their own magic.

Knowledge (religion), however, is the study of deities and undead mostly. Nothing related to the Favored Soul.

No, some might not. Because it'll always be cross-class.

It's easy to have a cleric without any rank in Knowledge Religion. And it won't hamper the cleric's spellcasting until epic level.

But it's not easy to have a favored soul with reasonnable ranks in KR. And at epic levels, they're hosed.

Well, I suppose it depends on what you mean by 'religious'. Although their power comes to them naturally, it is Divine. And they know that. Due to that, they have a strong belief in their deity, they would be adamant about the power of their deity, and would likely want to please him.

Whether or not they study their deity doesn't mean they don't at least know some of his teachings.

Knowledge (Religion) covers:
gods and goddesses, mythic history, ecclesiastic tradition, holy symbols, undead
I think the teachings of his deity would fall into there.

Yep, tho I think for that the cross-class skill is sufficient. A class skill represents more than just knowing a fraction of the knowledge covered by the skill.

Well, just trying to understand or give a reason why they do not have that skill, I wouldn't really be opposed to adding it to the class skill list, I'm just going by the "as is" there and am looking for a "why". ;)

Their education does not include that kind of study, that's what I am saying, therefore they do not have the skill as a class skill. But if they choose to do so, there are ways (Education feat, for example).

I guess so. Initial gut reaction always goes, "Gah!" when I see that. Just seems weird to me.

That's a cool feat! I'm still getting used to Eberron and this feat stuck out at me today.
