Favorite Storyteller system?

A toss-up between Mage and Vampire. Mage probably has more long-term playability, but I'm hopelessly infatuated by vampires.

I loved the setting for Mage: The Ascension. I've always felt they should've sued the makers of the Matrix. :)

But the system is not so good. Most of the players that I tried to recruit found the classes (i.e. traditions) rather dull and failed to fit desirable player archetypes. Even worse, there's nothing to distinguish one tradition from the next other than a single dot in one of the nine spheres. There was a stat called arete that was pretty much unnecessary since it could have been represented using other stats, and limiting since players only started with one, maybe two dots. You start the game unable to perform more than the most rudimentary parlor tricks. Pretty sad when you're trying to face off against men-in-black who can pop high-tech gatling guns out of their bodies.

Yet another setting that could benefit from a d20 treatment.

Hunter: The Reckoning, until Buffy and D20 Modern came out. I do like some ideas presented in the WoD, but hate the Storyteller system with a vengeance.

Mage has the distinction of being my favorite RPG and the difficult to play RPG I've ever worked with. On the surface it's tough to grasp, but doable. The deeper you dig the more complex it becomes though.

Overall a great system and setting though, very well worth the effort to enjoy.
