Finding a good group of adults

bolen

First Post
I was wondering if I am unique> I have been playing games since the early 80's but have only had a few groups to play with. It was easiest in college but the folks I knew played too often for me. But since I have been an adult I have only had a few groups.

I have been driving to memphis to play but that is a long way to play.

I hope that I will have beter luck in Kentucky (Bowling Green)

I knew one or two people in BGKY who played. That being said, I haven't heard from one of them since he had a shotgun shacking-up, and the other may've moved.

But, you never know. There was a group in my rural BFE county that I hadn't realized existed until I went back to school. Good luck!

I sorta know what you're feeling.. my group and I have been steady for a 6 years now and we've had a few people come and go. We're trying to find another good person to game with and it's sorta difficult.

Hi, I'm new here, but if you are looking for games, have you looked into online games? I know there are a few sites that help folks meet each other.

One that I like, with free software that seems to be ok, is OpenRPG. One place on their message boards to meet up with others is: http://forums.rpghost.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=121

Good luck on finding a group however you go.

Hey welcome Fitz!

Online gaming is a great alternative for some.

As to the original post - finding a decent gaming group is tough. I suggest seeking out as many local RPGA groups as possible and then try to raid the cream of the crop to form your own group. Also, never be afraid to walk away from the table or tell others to walk away from your table. Do not restrict yourself to D&D - be willing to jump into other games - you can always bring them around to your rules set later ;) Good luck!

I've had really good luck with www.accessdenied.net. Of course, I've recruited (and been recruited) for games in the Bay Area, where it's pretty much a target-rich environment. The problem is weeding out the folks you don't want, not in finding folks in the first place.

Still, Bowling Green is a fairly sizeable town ... there are bound to be a number of gamers. (One of my best friends from law school is a prosecutor in BG, but, alas, neither she nor her husband are gamers.)

With a little patience you can put together a pretty good group. Hit game days and events at your local shop just to get a feel for the people in the area and possibly meet some people that you could play with on a regular basis. In addition "gamer seeking gamer" classifieds on many forums (En World, Wizards, Access Denied) can work really well in finding people to play with. When posting just make it clear you are looking for adult gamers (which I assume means you are looking for mature, regular players).
