Firefly ain't coming back

I will miss Firefly. I'm amazaed that no one would pick it up. I mean, come on, a lot of other shows have been picked up that didn't have going for them what Firefly had.

I still say they should have gone into syndication instead of trying to lick the boots of the major network "suits," but I guess Joss Whedon consider it too beneath him.

Screw the major networks.

Instead of spitting more venom (I have plenty for Fox) I'll just give a fond R.I.P. to Firefly. Twas a great show that was doomed from the start...

Oh, to hell with it. May all the folks responsible for Firefly not continuing burn for eternity.

Not beneath him. Syndication requires a different sort of financing.

As I understand things, when a network produces a show, they foot the bill, and pay only for the shows they want - thus you get shows chopped off early or mid season. When producing for syndication, you've got to come up with $$ to produce the show, which you only get back after that show is sold to your outlets. So you tend to get full seasons by hook or by crook, because someone's come up with the money up front.

So, aside from the fact that syndication probably would not have pulled in enough money to match Firefly's large pricetag, he would have had to come up with the money somewhere else.

For those who might care last week fastlane came out at 86th with 3.9 rating, the lowest of any fox show on that week. Yeah its somewhat higher than Firefly was pulling in there, but it also shows that that is the weakest spot they could possibly put Firefly at.

Friday night is the timeslot of death for any show on FOX. It killed Firefly, Dark Angel, and Millennium.

Like the Colonel, I wish Space:A&B would have been allowed to continue, but Millennium should also have been given a chance to recover after the 3rd season's debacle.

"Tonight on FOX--When execs kill your favorite shows!"
