Firefly RPG I want it!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way.

Inara is hot but Kylie had something. I think it was her innocence. She looked at everything as a wonder. She was more child like than Summer and in that dark world it was refreshing.
It's not exactly innocence, she was having an affair with Serenity's first mechanic ... in the engine room! I think it was more an honesty and refusal to let the world stop them from enjoying life. Which can seem like innocence sometimes.

Btw, lock me in a room with a frisky Kylie and Willow (from Buffy) and I'll die a happy man. :)

So does Josh know some red-head girl who was so chipper and ... enthusastic or what?

It isn't exactly guilt either. One of the unique things about the show is that women in it are allowed to enjoy sex without it being treated as dirty, or like some kind of pathology. Kaylee is sensual.

As for an RPG, Margaret Weiss Productions is apparently going to release a non-d20 RPG tied in with the movie:

It looks like it'll work on a system whereby you roll a given die to hit a target number, and the die you roll is your skill, with die steps for modifiers -- d4 to d6, for example, for point blank range. Shades of both Deadlands and Alternity there. Still, it's liable to be a simple system to use. However, there are already other options available, including:

This Custom d20 version:

Here you will find a d20 Future conversion taken right from the MSRD, and including a brief module:

The FireflyWiki has links to Firefly conversions for both Unknown Armies and for Savage Worlds:
http://www.fireflywiki.org/Firefly/FireflyGaming
It's also a good place to look for details out of which to build your own conversion, including available technology, culture, and lexicon.

There is a WoTC thread discussing, among other things, various characters' stats in d20:
http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=154362&page=1

This site has a Firefly version of the d20 Modern character sheets, printable cardboard stand-ups for Firefly characters and simplified Serenity deckplans to use with d20's 5-foot step combat scheme:

i haven't gotten my hands on D20 Future, but why couldn't you run a Firefly campaign with plain old D20 Modern? The high-tech stuff is completely peripheral to the excellent story-telling in the series and easily winged with the rules already present in D20 Modern.
All the d20 Future stuff is on the d20 Modern SRD (along with Urban Arcana and the Menace Manual).

Not as good as having the book, but a lot cheaper (especially if you just want the spaceship rules, for instance).

It's actually the original Sovereign Stone system, updated for use with Serenity. It uses every die save for the d20. ;)

Traveller could do it, but it'd be fairly hard, especially with the lack of money/decent armor that most smugglers would have.

All of those characters could be done with the prior history rules though. How cool!

Traveller rules kill. Don't forget that. And with no armor and little AC to go around, death is going to be harsh.

I wouldn't expect to be able to dock and raid a space station without a fully armed Mercenary crew in battle armor for instance.

If you want your game fairly harsh in the life-and-death department (I do), use Traveller. Otherwise you might prefer D20 modern/future.

Depending on the edition, Traveller rules can kill before you even play. :D

As good as traveller is, it might be a little TOO realistic for a game based on a TV show. On the other hand, Modern/Grim Tales both have a good bit of bite with their MDT rules (especially if you set it to 10 points), without being so lethal as to not provide dramatic tension very often. If we're talking wounds, I want to be able to emulate "Ariel" as well as "Out of Gas."

One of my favorite solo RPGs from back in the day: 1E Traveller Character Generation. ;) With the ever-popular adventure: "See How Many Tours of Duty You Can Get Your Marine Through Before He Dies."

I know you guys are going to burn me for a heretic, but I have to say it...

*gulp*

I think the GURPS 4E rules would be great for Firefly.
