In this thread, we have learned that ENWorld has changed the name of Scott Rouse to "The Rouse." Recent threads in this forum have shown dramatic responses to any type of name change, no matter how minor, so I wanted to do a quick poll to gauge the opinions of ENWorlders.

I am a little bothered about this change, myself. I believe it introduces a certain flavor to the 4E discussion boards that I am not comfortable with, and that might confuse other people who are accustomed to referring to this developer by his first name.
I'm really getting tired of all the dumbing down that takes place with every new edition. I mean the only people "The Rouse" will appeal to is ADD kiddies and WoW players. >=(

I find this insulting to me as a DM. Now I am expected to implement this Rouse as an NPC? What if there are no Rs in my campaign?

WotC is dictating my setting! BRENCH this ROUSE!

Unfortunately English doesn't have gender for its definite article so I am left wondering if The Rouse is male, female or neuter. With all the other fluff and flavor changes I can not be sure if The Rouse will remain male or not or even mammalian or not. If not will She/It now have boobs and if He/She/It is now reptilian how are we supposed to differentiate between genders.

We could go French and say "Le Rouse" ....with Dragonborn boobs

I was really hoping the new name would be some anagram taken from Loraine Williams but we settled on "The Rouse" because we needed a new name and did not leave ourselves enough time to properly vet and test variants like:

Millionaire Laws
Millionaires Awl
Malaise Will Iron
Lanai Slimier Owl

I am holding out for SRv.2
Iron Will Malaise wouldn't sound too bad. Well, for a pulp character... or a feat.

I heard the Rouse will dwell in the Mistrouse, or perhaps Umbralrouse. I am very disappointed its not something like the temple of Sk-ott R'ouzz.

The Rouse is one uber NPC that the game could do without. How are my players supposed to be the heroes when "The Rouse" is always flying down in his cape and tighty whities to defeat the BBEG?

You mean he'll be the new patron of named spells in 4E?

"Rouse's Disjunction"
"Rouse's Hideous Laughter"
"Rouse's Distrolling Screen"

;)

Cheers, LT.

Is Rouse-aroni still the San Fransico treat?

Will this be a Rouse-ing success?

Is this a new 4e feat: A Rouse-ing Kick to the Nether Regions or will it just be called a Rouse-House Kick?

Damn but The Rouse is on Fire!

(k', i'm all punned out... I need to go Rouse the kid and make sure his homework is done ;)

The name itself as shown can lead to all sorts of interesting olethrology such as:

Are you a Man or a Rouse?!?!
Those monsters could eat you out of Rouse and home!

Then again, Scott gets too much Rouse-al abuse on the Internet as it is. :)
