Flight of the Resistance (Star Wars)

Quickleaf So my character was going to be a junker or scrapper but not sure if they have this on Kabal. What would be a equivalent on Kabal?

There are some, a bit more "jungle overgrown" and lower-tech than your average scrapyard. There was an imperial-allied station orbiting the moon that was destroyed, and some of the scrap fell to Kabal. The planet's lightstorms also can induce EMPs which disrupt navigation systems, so unskilled pilots trying to land amidst a lightstorm are liable to crash - the wreckages could become part of the scrapyards.

Being a human junker/scrapper would definitely mean that your character rubbed shoulders with squibs.

Good then I can keep that part of my concept. Would definitely have been around the Squibs if they are primarily Junkers as well. I'm thinking I have had contact with the criminal element. Not sure how maybe needed to get medicine from them to help my mom.

Green Karl So Kospirian, being a Resistance spy, would have at least a simple datafile on SKYLARK...

And if anyone's PC has backstory linking them to the Anoat Sector (which includes Hoth, Bespin, and a whole host of planets), let me know – there's an opportunity there for a personal connection to SKYLARK if you wanted.

So trying to think how my character would be connected to the other characters. Being born on Kabal and never having left will make it difficult. I could have found something at a crash site. I need to figure out my morality. I really need to read that section in the book. Not sure of you need to pick a side. If I do it would be lightside.

For obligations he has an obsession with space travel. Perhaps a debt to the criminal element on Kabal as well. Still working on this. Going to work on my background more hopefully more ideas come out as I write.

I'm going to do my best to provide you with possible connections. IMHO, however, once you put some flesh on the bones of your PC concept making these sorts of connections will be muuuuch easier and come naturally....

KahlessNestor and I established that Arsinoë has been on Kabal for a bit. Someone rescued her from Tatooine (or another LONELY PLANET) and brought her to Kabal; we'd discussed the possibility of this being a PC pilot-type, but if your never-left-Kabal scrapper PC is going to fill the pilot role, then we need to rethink that. Instead, she might have been "rescued" by someone else – maybe the NPC Khiar Doman (gritty former Rebel)? – and then either she was sold to criminals OR circumstance led her to falling in with a bad crowd. Specifically, I'm thinking the Houk Barcad (houk alien gangsters adapting to diminishing Spice/slave trade). So it's entirely possible your PC has crossed paths with Arsinoë during her last few weeks? months? on Kabal. I'd leave it to you guys to figure out what the nature of their interaction has been.

Green Karl's PC Kospirian has been kicking around the general area of the Outer Rim where Kabal is located for a while now. Since Kabal lies on two hyperspace corridors, there is a significant criminal element passing through, and it has gained the attention of the Resistance, there's lots of reasons for Kospirian to have passed through. So it's entirely possible your scrapper PC could have mingled with Kospirian at the port in Spirepoint. I'll leave it to you guys to flesh out what their interaction has been like so far.

xynthoros is playing the astrodroid "Rex" who is loosely accompanying Arsinoë. For some reason, I'm seeing Rex being used as a cantina server droid and gambling bet-taker for the gangster keeping Arsinoë on his payroll. Of course, Rex has other motives (secretly being part of the Resistance) and would be using the server-droid thing as cover. Just a thought! Anyhow, you describe your scrapper PC hanging around junkyards... It might be possible for you guys to figure out some connection there, what with Rex being modded.

Like I explain in the original post under the "Character Creation" spoiler, Morality usually starts at 50 (neutral in regards to Light/Dark) and involves selecting an emotional strength & an emotional weakness (which may or may not be linked as the table in F&D depicts). You have the option of starting aligned to the Light Side (71) or the Dark Side (29). However, if you choose Dark Side, it's going to be with the understanding that your character fits a "rising from darkness" theme (e.g. an anti-hero seeking redemption, a padawan striving to purge darkness after killing a defenseless enemy, etc).

A quick word: I know it's tempting to go hog wild with all these cool rules options. However, I'd like to ease us into the game. Personally, I don't want to get overwhelmed.

Which is why I asked everyone to focus on just one of Duty, Morality, or Obligation for now. Feel free to record whatever you want on your character sheet, but I need you to make it clear to me WHICH ONE of those options is the one your character is starting with. This is the one that I'm going to focus on for your character in terms of story stuff (and the one that affects character creation).

For example: Arsinoë has OBLIGATION 5 (Family), OBLIGATION 5 (Betrayal), Obligation 10 (Bounty). And she also has DUTY 5 (Support), and MORALITY 50 (Ambition/Arrogance). What I'm paying attention to, however, is the one KahlessNestor relied upon during character creation, which is OBLIGATION. The others are just flavor for now. So on my end as GM I'm looking at ways to incorporate the Bounty on her head, her Betrayal at the hands of her betrothed Samas, and her Family (father & brother) who are looking for her. Those are what I'm focusing on for Arsinoë for the time being, because those are what KahlessNestor identified as being most important. For now, keeping it simple. Later, it can get more complicated.

Because KahlessNestor is experienced with the system he decided to go gangbusters and fill in details for all three: OBLIGATION, DUTY, and MORALITY. Totally nothing wrong with that. At the same time, you don't need to do that – you can fill in just one, or none at all if you like. That's totally fine as well.

Lightside is the default side.

The reason I was looking at obligations and duties was to gain the bonus XP. Just taking Morality doesn't get me the extra XP which I think my character will need. Plus they can add depth to the character and role play opportunities.
