Flurry of blows allowed with Monk Weapon

Zaruthustran

The tingling means it’s working!
The rules say that monk's can use their unarmed BAB when using certain weapons (kama, nunchaku, etc.)

But can a Monk use Flurry of Blows with those weapons?

And this also applied to the expanded list of monk weapons in OA?

In other words, a PHB monk could not use Flurry of Blows with a club, but an OA monk could?

And while I'm here, the only real reason you would use a d6 weapon rather than your d6 (or better) hands is because you could have a +3 Flaming club or some such whereas it is very hard (impossible?) to enchant your fists?

make life easier for you, just replace the PHB Monk with the OA monk.

do that and maybe let elven druids use their evlen preferred weapons as well.

Exactly. Though I plan on treating all monks like OA monks from now on, in my campaign.

Again, exactly. Monks fists will eventually work as +x weapons for damage reduction, but if you're fighting a creature with damage reduction, you need that +x weapon now.

Plus you can get some cool enchantments on weapons that are a little harder then to get on your monk. But the idea of a monk taking out 3 frost giants with his hands is pretty funny. That happend last night. It stinks whenn the Barbarian can't make it.

There are other reasons. For example, the creature you are fighting is immune to blunt attacks. A monks fists can not slash or pierce so it may be handy to have other modes of attack available. And yes, the fists are not enchantable 8)

Don't forget bracers of striking in Magic of Faerun.
