Forked Thread: Scotley's Tomb of Horrors 3.5 Continued

Fin turns back to the others hanging out in the roof area "Well it's clear in here, just these levers to pull and I ain't about to pull one of them with us all split up." the dwarf says, gesturing to the device on the wall.

"That is very, very wise, mighty Dwarf! In fact, I'm not sure that they should be pulled at all. It is most likely some other cruel hoax and does not lead to the object of our quest. Perhaps we should explore elsewhere and only return to the levers if we later discover that they are necessary to our endeavor?"

Grackle just stands around muttering about 'no traps', until Harrison gets his attention and hands him some gold coins. "Hey, shinies! Where shinies come from? Grackle not see deady or snakeses carry shinies! ....I not think they have anywhere to carry shinies....." he exclaims. Then the gnome starts looking down at the handful of shinies and goes into silent pondering over the mystery of how the deady or the snakeses hid these shinies on them.......

OOC: Okay, this game seems to have wandered off the rails. Can we get back on track? Your only real option to go forward at this point is going back to the hall with all the painted creatures and spheres...

Climbing from the little tube like tunnel and back into the broad hall you are once again faces with painted images of various monsters all holding or resting on spheres of different hues. Experience has shown that some of the spheres are illusory and conceal tunnels. There remains the misty arch with its glowing keystones to tantalize as well.

OOC: I know that I've adventured through this module in its 1ed form before, but that was MANY years ago, and I'm not sure how faithful the DM was to the module, either. Anyway, I say that to say that am going to go ahead and roleplay Logan's thoughts about where we should go next, and I have no hesitation doing this because I really have no idea what lies ahead of us. (I do remember some of the things in here, but not the sequence in which they lie. Rest assured that if something does seem familiar to me, I will refrain from spoiling any surprise. ;)

"I'm not much for crawling through any more spheres just now. I think that if we have to choose spheres or the archway, then the archway is clearly the superior choice, although I must say that weird, misty archways also make me very nervous."

"Ok then if we don't want to idly fiddle with levers in this 'tomb of the infinite trap' then is there some way to scry through the mist to see what hides on the other side before we just blindly step through it?"

Logan says, "Hmm, I should think that the best spell to use in this situation is probably the wizard spell prying eyes, but if none of us has that particular spell available, then I can cast divination. However, I must warn you that the results of divination are, at least in my experience, often quite disappointing. Perhaps before I cast it we could all put our heads together to formulate the best questions to ask? Ah, but I still think that prying eyes would be better suited to our purposes now. Do we have that spell available?"

Grackle just looks on with a blank stare and a small smile, glad they're talking about leaving or something. He sits down and picks at some rubble and dirt between his toes and toenails.
