The group moves on, and soon comes to the side road leading to the mine. Atrax, along with a tracker among the hoar suns examines the road a bit and the distressing number of recent tracks, some the clawed bones of skeletons, other seemingly bare but fleshed feet. It is apparent that the group you fought were not the only undead to leave the mine.

Susan says quietly, "The symptoms of this evil have ranged afield, but I suspect that its main source is still at the mine. I sense something there, something that must be dealt with seperately from the individual abominations."

Rainca replies, "But we cannot allow these Sim-toms to go forth any longer either... I suggest that I and the hoar suns eliminate these creatures that are loose before they endanger travelers and other mines. You four can take the special items from the mortalists and move into the mine itself, strike at the heart of this blackness. We will prevent any of these monsters from returning to strike your from behind."

ooc: ok, a little heavy handed, but I figured we might as well split off the 3-4 active players and get this moving a little faster. If rainca or skeeter return to active posting, I can always do a side adventure for their undead run down. If you want some npcs to help, thats fine too.

ooc: I agree it´s the best solution.

"I think it would be better to stay together" says Nodis. "But maybe you´re right. After all we don´t know how much time we´ll spend at the mines, if we have to retreat and come back. Good luck."

Brother Eusebius looks thoughtful at Rainca's words, then nods, convinced.

"I, too, will miss the presence of the Mystic Warrior, Rainca, and the Hoar Suns - but you are right. We must do what we can to protect the innocent, as well as to stamp out the source of this evil. We four will enter the heart of darkness, to bring the light of Hyrag's blessing to a place of deepest gloom."

Holding out his hands to encompass them all, he says, "Benedictus benedicat!"

Making a deep bow to the company, he then turns to his three companions and says, "Let us be on our way. We can make good use of the remaining daylight to come to our destination and make plans once we see it. On a practical note, who now should carry the other wand of healing? I fear I cannot use it. What of you, Nodis? Do you know how to use such things?"

[I believe the name is Artax, not Atrax. And according to Rainca, there is no I in Rainca. :)]

Rurik seems agreeable to the the plan, until it seems that all of the healing wands will go with his group.

"One o' the wands should go to Rainca an' the 'Ore Suns. Too many to treat wi' jus' one cleric. We only 'ave one what can use the wand, any'ow."

Rurik waits, and watches patiently and peacefully until one of the wands is returned to the care of the other group.

"Agreed. Now, let us take the battle to our foes!"

OOC:
I understand that KB is trying to ensure that the PCs have the benefit of the magical items - but in character Eusebius would agree with Rurik about this. Artax could, of course, carry both wands but I'm happy to go with the flow.

One request, though - could we have the wand that has more charges left? :o

Oh, and we'll have to make sure that Artax is never reduced to negatives or we're stuffed!

The hubby and I broke the internet trying to integrate a new computer into the house network, so my access is going to be intermittent for a week or so. And what access I will have is on a computer without my battle map files. I am sincerely sorry for the lack of warning, and promise that things will be back on track just as soon as we smite the cable company.

ooc: computer problems suck. I lost once an adventure I was about to run in the play by post forum and I had to cancel it. We´re here, hoping you can continue as soon as you can.

woo hoo, internet access and my maps on the same computer!!!!!

Aaaaaaanyway...... :heh:

The now significantly smaller group heads down the road to the mine while Rainca and the Hoar Suns go and beat the bushes for wandering undead. Atrax and Brother E scouting ahead, soon see another group of skeletons, this time intermixed with more 'fleshy' corpses, milling about at the entrance to the fort.

The black squares are again skeletons, the grey are zombies. your veiw of the sides of the fort beyond where the undead are shown is limited, and the open gates and a cart partially block the entrance. It is possible that there are more undead in the bushes and boulders beside the road, but you don't see any when you first catch sight of the main group.
