[FR]Player wants to play a Bard/Ninja :), what do you think?

why, yes they are my people

Crothian, as much as I love your posts most of the time, I have to tell you that posts like this one really make me want to stab my own eyes out (or at least stop reading internet forums). Grammar and spelling correction stopped being funny circa 1994.

seems to make sense to me, though rather than being a group of assassins, more an organisatoin of stealthy, 'ninjafied' vigilantes...League of Shadows anyone? No offence meant, just an example of how I'm seeing it.

I just don't see it working too well - half your abilities require stealth, and the other half require noise (unless you allow Perform (Mime)!). Seems underpowered (for a gestalt game), not overpowered.
I agree with OFB; this is the biggest question that I see with the character. One of the Ninja's strongest abilities is Ghost Step (Invisible) which does not synergize well with Bardic Music. <ahem> You might want to highlight that to your player to consider; he might not realize that his Bard literally has to sing/play/etc. for his Bardic abilities to function.

For all of you accusing the dude of being a munchkin, you might be right, but not for wanting a good assassin. Frankly, there are *lots* of religious assassins in RL history, even if you ignore the examples in D&D itself (Black Flame Zealot, Slayer of Domiel, and OA Ninja all come to mind).

I would guess that he is just trying to find an unusual, cool character concept. If anything, this is mechanically weak, not overpowered...

I wasn't correcting grammar or spelling, I was pointing out a funny typo. As most people are aware my spelling skills and grammar are not so keen so I never correct other people on it. But if a typo does make a funny to me I'll point it, like others do.

On the stealth and music side, would he tend to use diplomacy and suggestion to get into places (Bond style), and stealth to get where he shouldn't (ie within stabbity range)?

But I am having a hard time seeing a CG 'assassin'.

Watch the movie, "Remo Williams: The adventure begins."

At least, you could use the "Slayer of Domiel" prestige class found p.73 of the Book of Exalted Deeds. Still odiously cheesy in my opinion (but dungeonpunk style has its adepts anyway), but more coherent.

(Slayer of Domiel is a prestige class of good aligned assassins serving some high-up of the Seven Heavens.)

I find it funny that you seem to dismiss this character as cheesy, and with almost the same breath recommend something out of the Book of Exalted Cheese.

That's comedy! :D
