From The Shadows (A Ravenloft Campaign)

Thadeus grabs the bottle eagerly and takes a long, hearty draw. "Ah, that hits the spot," he finishes with a mighty belch, wiping the escaping liquid and some stray dinner from his thick auburn beard. He offers the bottle to his nearest neighbor, then pulls it back, issuing a playful smile before finally handing it over."Thank you for your hospitality, Anja. I do believe I would feel better sharing your camp for the night and moving on come daybreak." He looks around at the shadowed woods around the campsite. "Though moving on to where I've no idea." In truth, the warning of the full moon causes a shiver to run up his spine, but Thadeus forces the dark thoughts away. "Tell me more about this village. Does it have a pub, by chance? Ya ha!" he finishes with a mighty laugh, spraying bits of his meal into the firelight.

Erasmus politely waves away the drink and begins strumming his viola making sure not to let his gaze slip away from the instrument.

Anja sits forward on her tree stump and uncouthly spits a bit of pig fat into the fire.

"You are welcome to wait out the darkness here, but unfortunately my vardo, my wagon, as you say, is not large enough for all of you. One can sleep inside with me, the others will have to rest by the fire."

She cocks her head slightly as if listening, and begins scanning the clearing's edge intently. She reaches within the bright red sash across her middle and slowly draws a silvered dagger forth. Without taking her eyes off the darkness, she whispers, "We are not alone."

Thadeus' eyes go wide as he rises to his feet. Staring into the nearby woods, he shifts his meal into his left hand, wipes his weapon hand clean(er) on his robes, and draws forth his mace. Come on then, ya little bugger. Show me yer ugly hide.

"Little Bugger? Ugly hide? Dear Thadeus, is that anyway to treat your warrior-in-training?"

Alexander steps closer to the group. He holds up his hand as a sign of peace to all. His large frame baring the burden of a large pack of supplies.

Once the others have gone back to eating, Xander with set his pack down.

"Welcome traveler. It would seem there is a number of us lost in the dark..."

"Please beware of the silver line on the ground. Our fine hostess has implied it be very important to warding the dangers of the night."

Whatever that may mean, thought Varren, as if a trek to who knows where wasn't a mystery enough.

"But I must admit, the day... er, night has turned out rather nicely. Nicely indeed."

"Ya hey!" Thadeus bellows loudly, slipping his weapon back into his belt and moving forth to give Alexander and welcoming slap on the shoulder and a warm smile. "I thought I'd lost ya, lad." A stray bit of roast pig finds it's way from Thadeus' mouth to Alexander's shoulder. "Oops...let me get that for ya," the priest adds, trying his best to wipe clean the warrior. "Do come be joinin' us then. We was just settin' down to a fine meal."

Then, moving closer he adds in a hushed voice, "Do mind the spirits though, lad. They pack a bit more kick than ye might be wantin'. I'm not for carrying yer arse the rest of the way to the village come daybreak."

"I am glad your friend has found us safely, but the sun will be up in a few hours, and we all need our rest," Anja says. She picks up her sack and heads into the vardo. On her way, she looks at Thadeus. "Consider the wine a gift between friends."
