D&D 5E Fun, fun, fun... 'till the DM takes the T-Bird away

Just think of eating out- many people would consider it more fun to eat out with others, even though when you dine alone, you always get to choose the place you want to eat. But if you always want to maximize your self-interest, then eat out alone exclusively.

Or you could go out to dinner with your friends and just order something that you want to eat.

Do food places still have menus now a days or just here?

It's not like you can say, "You vill haff FUN!" and all problem cease. Fun is personal and idiosyncratic.

The CEO at a company I worked for would look at his watch on a friday and declare at 5pm "The fun can begin... now!" Which would be hilarious if he was riffing on The Office but we asked him about it once and he clearly had never heard of The Office. I really wanted it to be a brilliant troll but it wasn't.

Sorry, off topic lol. :)

I agree that you can't make people have fun but you can develop an atmosphere for people to have fun in, and there's an element of consensus and trust there. Consensus in the type of game and the right balance between seriousness and humour; and trust in the sense that someone else in the group isn't going to make fun of your roleplaying in a dramatic moment (unless you mean for it to be tongue-in-cheek).
