Funny movie mix-up...

So I was sitting home again most of the day yesterday, still laid up with my broken foot...

I decided to make a trip to the video store to rent some videos to kill some time. I remembered a movie that a friend of mine had recommended a while back, Arlington Road.

Well, that was the movie he recommended, anyway. I was hobbling up and down the aisles of my local video store and I grabbed up Mullholland Drive, confusing it with the aforementioned Arlington Road. (It's an understandable mistake, isn't it? I just saw the "street name" title and thought it was the "terrorist neighbor" movie...)

Well, needless to say, Mullholland Drive was very different. Very bizzare, and not at all something I would ordinarilly watch.

But I do find the mix-up rather amusing, and so has everyone I've shared this story with so far. So I thought I'd see if anyone here is amused by my little mistake...

But to make this more interesting, I figure I'll ask...

Any of you made a similar type of mistake at the video store? You meant to grab one thing, and ended up with something entirely different that wasn't "your style"?

And if not, just make something up so I don't feel so stupid!

Yeah, I've done that. The other day at the library someone dropped off "Central Station" and I thought it was "The Station Agent" so I grabbed it from the returns and checked it out. I realized my mistake when I got home and read the back of the case. I was expecting the movie about a man born with dwarfism who lives in abandoned train station, and what I got was a Brazilian movie about a boy dealing with the death of his mother.

Well, it wasn't my mistake, but as a teenager I rented (or thought I rented) some action movie (Stallone? Schwarzenegger?) only to get home and find 'The Care Bears Movie' in the tape case. Very disheartening.

My Mom has had a number of mix ups. How about mistaking The American President for Dead Presidents? She also rented From Dusk till Dawn (I think that's the right name, some sleazy vampire movie) for some unknown reason. But she sometimes rents the same movie more than once because she forgets she's seen it, or believes she's seen movies that she hasn't.

I could imagine looking forward to seeing 28 Days Later, then finding you've wound up with a crappy Sandra Bullock film. Now that's real horror.

Oh, I'm so sorry morrolan. That movie is atrocious. :p No one should have to suffer through that.

No real mix-ups for me. I don't rent often.

Once picked up Mummy instead of The Mummy. The begining was ok but the rest sucked. I think it might have been made to confuse people into buying it.

Not a movie, but I saw Johann De Meij's "Lord of the Rings" Symphony on sale in a music store, being billed as the soundtrack for the movie.

But I was savvy enough to recognize the difference, already owning both. ;)
