Gamma World: What version

I have the first edition and second edition boxed sets. Of the two, I greatly prefer the original - much better art (I love the "fuzzy bunny" hoops) in the first edition, which doesn't try to take itself too seriously. (The second edition tried to make the hoops look like "bad-asses" - and let's face it, there's no way a humanoid bunny rabbit is ever going to look scary.)

First edition all the way!

How hard would you say it would be to teach Gamma World to a D20 player, who has never played much outside D20 (A little whitewolf, which doesn't help for this)? Enough that I could explain enough for him to get by while other people were generating characters?

Believe ir or not GW4 will probably be easier for them to pick up than AD&D 1st or 2nd Ed.

need i say it. :D

Original Gamma World is the only true... :D

Only true what?

Only true follow-up to Metamorphisis Alpha?

Of course OD&D is nothing more than a pale rip-off of Chainmail. :p

Gosh, I think it was 2e that I grew up on- though I briefly had 1e, and was it 3e or 4e that introduced classes (whatever they called them) to GW? Seems, too, like I remember damage types having different colors...? Which edition was that, anyhow? Anyone? Help!

3rd Edition had the chart equating colors with levels of success/difficulty (including damage).

4th Edition introduced classes.

Shame you already ordered the game Tsyr. I was going to recommend Darwin's World as being the ideal marriage of D20 and the spirit of the original Gamma World.

I also enjoy Darwin's World. Check into it.
