Gate, Planar Binding and the ELH

So are those nasty, nasty outsiders listed in the ELH subject to these spells?

Can the 17th level Wizard in my campaign use "Gate" to call a Pseudonatural Titan?

My gut says NO, but some kind of official vindication would be nice.

I'd say let him do it. But if you are nice, you might want to point out a few loopholes in the gate description:

The PHB reads

Deities and unique beings are under no compulsion to come throught the gate, although they may choose to do so of their own accord.

...

Deities and unique beings cannot be controlled in any event. An uncontrolled being acts as it pleases, making the calling of such creatures rather dangerous.

What does this mean? Obviously, not every creature that comes through a gate can be controlled by the caster of the spell. The creatures that cannot be controlled are very powerful- gods or beings of similar epic nature. (notice how cleverly I stuck in the adjective "epic"?) They might come through the gate (if they feel like it)- they might even listen to what the wizard has to say (in regard to instructions and rewards). But if they feel like doing something else, the wizard has a serious problem on his hands.

Maybe like the kind of problem Vhorzhe had with a pseudonatural Yugoloth?

Incidentally, I think that Planetars and Solars are in the category of creatures that are not fully controllable. If the wizard's agenda departs significantly from that of the celestial's, I think the celestial will do what it pleases.
