A couple of points of interest

The other thread of imp your saves sparked my memory.

In a Gestalt campaign there is a player with the following build 14 Favored Soul / 14 Paladin with a +3 Cloak of resistance, immune to disease, immune to poison, ring of free action-immune to grapple, goggles that allows him to see inviso, helm that gives +6 to cha, amulet of health +2, +4 wis

Not the perfect build but very solid and his saves FORGET ABOUT IT!

The problem isn't the character per se, but the conglomerated items - by any chance, are the "new magic item" rules readily available for custom crafting? If so... of course he rocks the house! He's got a slot-changed +6 Charisma item so he can still have his + Resistance item, a combined +Constitution / + Wisdom item, goggles of See Invisibility (there's a reason that's a personal spell, by the way)

So just from Divine Grace and his items, he's getting +6 to all saves beyond what his class build grants - and I'm guessing he's looking into working up that Cloak of Resistance - if you drop the listed items, his saves go from 24/23/25 to 17/17/17 (-3 Divine Grace from Charisma +6 Helm, -3 Resistance from the cloak, -1 Fort from the +Con item, -2 Will from the +Wisdom item)... which makes me wonder where he's getting the extra +8 to all his saves from; base saves should be +9/+9/+9 for a Favored Soul at 14th. If he's got a Charisma score of say, 20 without the listed items, that's +5, and he still needs 16 Wis, 16 Con, and 16 Dex..... which should be rather difficult without non-listed items or a really high point-buy....

Want to challenge him?

Rule that Nondetection functions against See Invisible - I suspect those goggles are at a minimal caster level. Have a critter with Greater Invisibility, a caster-level increased Amulet of Proof Against Detection and Location, and something to zap with; perhaps a Wand of Empowered Scorching Ray. A rogue can do all that with Wands, if he's got a supplier for the items...... or if he's gestalted, too, with, say, Wizard (in which case, you can skip the Amulet of Proof Against Detection and Location, and just cast it).

As I mentioned in the Improve Your Saves thread, is the character wearing two amulets? Periapts of Wisdom and Amulets of Health both occupy the amulet item slot.

I dont see anything wrong with this. Well okay one bit, and that is that the helm as + cha doesnt make much sense.

For the record he could have taken vests of resistance + cloak of cha, which would do the same thing.

What goggles are those btw?

Paladins always will have crazy saves if they have a decent cha. Its totally factored into the balance of the class. Then you have favored soul which has 3 good saves. Seems fairly balanced to me actually. Hes also got a ring of free action for grapples(which doesnt happen frequently) instead of , say, a ring offering a sacred bonus to AC.

A paladin with good rolls or high PBs can easily reach 40+ saves in epic games. I think they are the only class at level 30 that can withstand stuff like DC 48 save or die(deathward doesnt help!) monster abilities with any regular success.

Oh I agree there are many ways to make this build more optimal however magicals are typically dug up, looted & taken from fallen foes very rarely do we have magical shops selling goods. And if there is a magical shop we charge at least book listed price often more. The helm was one found and he must be speaking for it to work? I'm not in that group all that often but I did see this pc in action and as usual he made every saving throw and in general was a pc of note very well rounded, very campaign influncial & well made.
