Ramis Plans ‘Ghostbusters 3’ with Stiller

By WENN|Sunday, November 06, 2005
Photo GalleryHOLLYWOOD - Moviemaker Harold Ramis is trying to bring his Ghostbusters movie franchise

back to the big screen--and he wants Ben Stiller to star in a third film.

Ramis reveals Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd has written a new script, called Ghostbusters in Hell, and Ramis is keen to get the project started.

He tells InFocus magazine he wants Stiller to join Aykroyd and Rick Moranis in the sequel.

Aykroyd's script transports the bumbling ghostbusters into a parallel dimension via a portal in a New York warehouse.

Ramis explains, "What Danny had originally conceived was sending us to a special-effects hell--a netherworld full of phenomenal visual environments and boiling pits.

"But what works so well about the first two (films) is the mundane-ness of it all. So my notion was that hell exists in the same place as our consensus reality, but it's like a film shutter--it's the darkness between the 24 frames.

"So we create a device to do it, and it's in a warehouse in Brooklyn. When we step out of the chamber, it looks just like New York, but it's hell--everything's grid locked; no cars are moving and all the drivers are swearing at each other in different foreign languages. No two people speak the same language. It's all the worst things about modern urban life, just magnified."

Ohh wow! look he has seen an episode of the cartoon halloween episode. That episode was almost the same thing that the team to a alternate version of new york where the city/earth was ghost/monster city.

I was just thinking about this concept earlier today (since I was watching Groundhog Day, anothr Ramis film). I'm not surprised that there's going to be another...most movie IPs with multiple titles tend to get another shake years after the fact. I'm sort of hoping it addresses (a la the comics) how the original Ghostbusters decide to pass the torch after a fashion. Ben Stiller would be perfect in that regard. It'd also be nice if they could get Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson (and even Annie Potts and Sigourny Weaver...I think she said she'd love to do another Ghostbusters).

Great news! I like the Ghostbusters movie (the first, not so much the second) like the next guy, but I'm also a Ben Stiller fan (Mr Furious ftw!).

There. Now it's out. So sue me.

(Btw: A British magazine, forgot the name, once called Stiller the "43th funniest man alive", and that's pretty much accurate.)

& the containment unit was a pocket paradise ala a rod of security.

80% of my pre gamer occult knowledge came from that show. It was even what converted me to the Cult of Cthulhu. :] I was sooooo pissed when Fox family channel did not replay the Collect call of cthulhu & The devil to Pay, but it was to be expected. the only unbearable parts of the show were the Slimer! shorts on the saturay morning blocks.

I'm not holding my breath. There has been a lot of talk about a third Ghostbusters movie over the years. I'm not ging to get hyped up over this.

1)I'm very surprised at the positive responses here.
2)If this actually comes to fruition, I think it'll suck. No, I take it back, it might be entertaining, but it won't be "Ghostbusters"
