5E Ghosts of Saltmarsh: Pre or Post GHW?

Doc_Klueless

Doors and Corners
Quick question that my pre-work, hurried google-fu has been unable to answer:

Is Ghosts of Saltmarsh set Pre-Greyhawk Wars or Post-Greyhawk Wars?

Thanks for any help!

The original Saltmarsh module made no mention of anything related to Greyhawk apart from a location, but it was published well before the Greyhawk Wars stuff.

The new 5e GoS version seems to take the view that the Greyhawk Wars never happened.

Well, haven't happened yet: the Scarlet Brotherhood is working towards what happened in the Greyhawk Wars in the traditional timeline.

How so? (don't have the GoS book)....

OK< some spoilers here...

The sandbox framing section has a driving metaplot all about the Scarlet Brotherhood manuvering to take over the Hold of the Sea Pricnes and Keoland. The former is something that was accomplished in the Greyhawk Wars. All of the geopoliotical details are strictly pre-War.

I just wanted to necro this thread to mention that according to the greyhawk timeline here, the Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh takes place in the CY 570's which puts it pre-GHW. The module also puts King Skotti on the throne of Keoland, as according to Living Greyhawk, Skotti dies in 594 and is succeeded by his daughter, and Ghosts of Saltmarsh is consistent with all of that. So it's safe to say it takes place sometime in the 570's.
