Good books for use in creating flying ships

First Post
I was looking through the selections on this site's store, and I couldn't find anything about flying ships. Now then, I figured I'd ask, but what would be a good book on ships that I could convert to use for flying ships(old Spelljammer, anything seagoing, etc.)?

Hah! Funny you should ask. This very site contains a "hosted site" called the Cosmonomicon (there's a discussion board for it somewhere) which is creating a set of rules of flying vessels, including how to create said monstrosities.

Sadly, it's not yet finished. I'm still putting together a list of components that one assembles to create the vessels, but the basic rules, covering movement and combat, are in place and you could probably throw something together with that much.

The various rules are mostly posted on the discussion boards, or email me and I'll send you the lot.

Hmmm...

...a very nice, albeit a bit out-of-date product dealing with flying ships and their construction is the "Champions of Mystara" boxed set, presenting rules on how to create the flying ships depicted in the "Voyage of the Princess Arc" series :D

A couple options

old ones for conversion that can be purchased from svgames.com

The spelljammer boxed set
Champions of Mystara
Empires of the Dawn (not sure about the title, the Basic D&D boxed set gazetteer for Alphatia and the other empire).
Probably FR Halruaa
Probably Top Balista but not sure

in 3e
Twin Crowns campaign setting and Broadsides
There is a new pdf called Skull Craig or something like that available at rpgnow.com .

I don't have the goodman games one but there are probably a few more in addition.

I like the Broadsides one it has a couple different options (flying beasts pulling the boat, a stone that makes the ship act as if in a river in the air, special bouyant would and extra sails, etc.) as well as great general seafaring stuff.

There are probably other 3e ones as well.

Bastion Press will soon be coming out with such a product which, having playtested it, should fit your needs nicely. I was having spelljammer flashbacks flipping through it.

I believe Goodman Games has a product about this topic.
I believe they are releasing 3 books called the Aerial Adventure Guides, I only have the first one, which has mostly rules for aerial combat and rules for constructing and designing airships.

You might want to check out Dragonstar which might have some stuff you could modify.

The Thyatis/Alphatia boxed set was called "Dawn of the Emperors."

The FR Halruua supplement was entitled "The Shining South," and did indeed contain info on building flying ships (though I don't remember that section being too extensive).
