GREYHAWK CY 576: GREAT LEGENDS RETOLD -- CAMPAIGN THREAD

Backing up to be around the corner from the door and in position for a sneak attack, Sphynx will indicate with his fingers exactly how many people he heard speaking. He will ready a knife for a sneak attack, hoping to use the natural visual focus of the people standing by the table to distract attention from himself.

Sphynx, as you continue to listen, waiting for the door to suddenly swing open, you are disappointed; it does not. But you do hear 2 more voices, speaking the same, visceral language as the first two, join in the conversation. Then, the voices begin to fade. They are moving away, to the north. Your guess is that the new voices have summoned the first voices to join them somewhere to the north. You briefly and quietly relay this information to your friends.

EVERYONE: What do you do?

Making a silly face with an overtly disappointed expression that his plan has come of naught, Sphynx, diametrically switching tactics, walks to the door, flings it open, and hollers, "Yoohoo!"

"I hate waiting." He mutters to himself.

Not feeling well today, so post will be brief. No, it's not Covid-related; it's my upper back, which gives me issues from time to time. 😎

As you open the door, and holler, you hear grunts of surprise. Then, in your mind, you hear a voice, which sounds like 4 voices melded into one. The voice is in multiple languages simultaneously, all of which are languages that you understand! Normally, such an overlapping cacophony would be difficult to parse, but the message is perfectly clear:

"Your kind are so foolish. We had already checked that room, and were about to move on; but now, we are coming to claim your souls! Shake with fear, mortal, for we are not of this world! Your queen sought to subjugate us with ritual magicks, but her circle was incomplete, and now, we are loose upon your world, free to wreak havoc and claim souls at our whim! Prepare to meet your DOOM!"

Glancing back at the party, it is evident by the look on your friends' faces, that they too, received the telepathic message. In addition to the message, everyone receives an image in their mind of what their foes look like, despite the fact that the have not yet come into sight physically.

Hawke snorts, thinking to himself, but broadcasting his thoughts to everyone: "You sure do talk a big ruckus, for ones who look so skinny and underfed. Why don't you come here and repeat that threat to our faces?"

OOC: I am glad you do not have Herpes, Chicken Pox, Shingles, Enfluenze, AIDS, Eboli, the common cold or some other such contagious viral disease (CoViD).

Sphynx says aloud. "Always with the doom and gloom. Psychopaths need a new montra. Here is one for you: Those who go about looking for trouble are never as able to handle it as those who are prepared for its arrival."

Sphynx, as you cast your spell, you can feel the power of your magicks, as they punch through the demons' spell resistance; both are surprised to have been affected. Both of them are also surprised when the spell also penetrates their natural resistance to fire, causing them a small amount of pain and discomfort. The result is not as much as you'd hoped for, but it is still a positive one. It is evident that the demons are resistant to spells in general, and to fire specifically, but nevertheless, your spell manages to have a small effect, one that draws looks of concern from your opponents.
