In other news, the old man came over the house the other day to putter around, and in the course of three hours or so managed to lose his glasses, chop through an extension cord, and mess with the pressure on the water pump enough to un-fix the leak he 'fixed"...

Seventeen... Seventeen. That is the number of extension cords the old man has managed to cut through in the last 30 years. The guy's chopped more cords in half than Consumer Reports.

Edit: He did manage to find his glasses today.

This is a trippy set of short vids dealing with the Japanese language:

Apparently, when my father came over a few days ago, he was futzing around with the light switch that controls the lights over the stove and counter - the switch burned out years ago and the old man removed it, but couldn't remember which wires went to which part of the switch when he went to replace it, so he just left the wires hanging - there's still no switch attached, but apparently the old man simply twisted all the white wires together and all the black wires together, and now the light is permanently on unless I go downstairs and turn the fuse off... I didn't notice it until today because the wiring in certain parts of the house doesn't like to work if the humidity gets too high, and it has been a bit nasty lately.

Looking up how to wire in a light switch on youtube now...

Thought I was going to be late to work tonight. Got to work and nobody was there - turns out I forgot it was a RI State Holiday...

Fun Fact: RI is the only state in the US that officially celebrates Victory Day - NOT V-J Day, like everyone calls it, it's never officially been V-J Day - and it's celebrated on the second Monday in Aug.

I live in CT and, up until I started working at my current job, I'd never known about it... I only remembered about the holiday when I took a drive over to the main facility (which is in RI rather than CT despite being only one exit down the highway) and nobody was there either...
