I've signed up for a playtest once 4E comes out and will make my decision whether to buy the books only after I've played a few games. There are still far to many elements of the new edition that make me say "WTF?!"

I'm waiting. I'm taking the opportunity to seize on the doubt that the new edition is fostering in others to find players for games that I've owned for a while but haven't played recently (SLA Industries, Deadlands: HoE) and games that I've recently (re)purchased (HarnMaster, Beast Hunters), as well as different hobbies entirely (miniature gaming).

I went with No. I'll buy them when they are released because while it does indeed sound like they're reinventing the wheel somewhat, I like the sound of the game being designed, regardless of whether it's "true D&D" or not - having said that however, I feel that perhaps
I haven't decided whether I'll buy them or not. might not be somewhat more accurate a response - I plan on buying H1 in April when it hits the shelves (and I loath published adventures generally) and unless that elicits the frowny face of doom, proceeding thusly to the PH and so on in like order.
In all likelihood, I'll be picking up the three core books and (if 4e doesn't make me want to flush my head down the toilet) probably the 4e ECS next year. (Again, not much for published scenarios generally and I'm allergic to the Realms thanks)

But this is all theoretical. I want to see the thing first before I give them my money.

I'll buy the three, but I'm not going to pre-order. I don't want to pony up the money this far in advance. I'll probably buy an extra PHB that I can annotate freely.

Yes, some of them.

I've ordered Keep on the Shadowfell and the core books - I'll make an informed decision about 4e based on these.

Haven't decided yet. I might buy them to mine ideas from, but not for actual 4e play. So I voted the last option, although that might not be what you were after.
