Healer's Mercy as an Encounter?

Infiniti2000

First Post
A human monk takes Initiate of the Faith as his Human feat. He gets Healing Word as a daily power and is now multiclassed into cleric. Then, he takes the Divine Channeler feat and selects Healer's Mercy as the power. It says, in part, "If you don't already have the Channel Divinity class feature, you can use the Selected Channel Divinity power once per day."

The Character Builder (CB) allows you to create a monk like this. Moreover, when you view the character sheet, Healer's Mercy is listed as an Encounter Power.

1. Is this legit? Can you take multiple multiclass feats?

2. Is it a bug in the CB to list the Healer's Mercy as encounter?

It's odd. Basically, it gives you the Encounter Power Healing Word with a special limitation that it can be used only once per day. This doesn't actually make it a daily power, so the character generator doesn't change that. It just assumes your limit yourself to using it once per day.

1. Yes you can take multiple multi-class feats as long as they are for the same class.

2. It's a known CB bug.

Some powers are not adjusted for their special usage when they are acquired through means other that the main stream rules (like from multiclass feats).

Cool, I wasn't aware. Can you provide a cite?

PHB page208, the section "Class-Specific Feats", where it says "Second, once you take a multiclass feat, you can't take a class-specific feat for a different class."

It says nothing about a restriction to a total of 1 MC feat. The PHB itself had only one per class, but with other books you can quite easily find 2 or even 3 MC feats for the same class that grant different benefits. For some characters it is worth spending extra feats on them.
