Help: Evil DM sundered my wand :(

Sunder Wand

While inconvenient, a sundered wand is not a total loss. If I remember correctly, damaged magic items may be repaired by those with the appropriate feats for half the cost of creating the item in the first place.

Yep, ive picked up the pieces, through the way the DM described the bizzillion splinters that flew through the air when it was knocked out of my hand, i dont like my chances. :)

Seriously, i will get it repaired if possible after all if was a gift from the DM a few combats ago. :)

According to the RAW, you should get an AOO whenever someone makes a sunder attempt on you, whether they are sundering a weapon or a held/worn object (unless the attacker has Improved Sunder). The size modifier for Tiny is +2. Personally, I would allow the defender to make an opposed attack role if the item being sundered is held in the hand -- I think you've got a point about that (the RAW says otherwise). Saving throws shouldn't apply to physical attacks, though, IMHO.

Depends on if the wand holder in question was threatening the Sunderer. I agree with the Opposed attack role, but I'm thinking perhaps the wand-holder may've been a wizard... and if the sunderer was a fighter-type... it really is no contest. But you can at least roll :D

You can also try to get ahold of a glove of storing, which could be used to safeguard the wand after use as a free action.

Well, if you are the one crafting the wands, make them from adamantine. That'll give you a lot of hardness and hitpoints.

Plus, when you use it up, you just reuse the metal stick.

Evil DM sundered my wand :(

That's it? My friends and I were playing level 12 characters and encountered a trio of Fire Giants (who have Improved Sunder). Once the DM realized how easy it was to break things, he was Sundering things left and right. My archer lost his bow, the fighter lost his greateaxe and the cleric lost his mace and shield. Snap, snap, snap, snap.

The only thing we could do was to make sure that our items were made out of better material next time :(

Its one of the quirks of playing a game where equipment makes up a lot of your power and your characters are more durable than their equipment.

Its like a dragon fighting some PCs. He's insanely intelligent, and knows beneath that vorpal +5 sword of awesome and that full plate +5 of insanity lies a 20th level....chump.

Those are the stats for a typical wand. You'll note that nowhere does it describe what the size or shape or composition of a "wand" has to be. Someone already suggested using adamantine. A small sliver of that would be good. Perhaps I should say a "diminunative" sliver?

+5 items not really chumpy ie 15 hardness, 55-60hp
now a +1 vorpal, holy, dragonbane weapon is chumpy 11 hardness, 15-20 hp

and you cant sunder armor.

Repairing wands

Apparently not for wands, If your read the CRAFT ITEMS <ITEM TYPE> type in the players, some say you can use the craft to fix items/weapoms/armor etc. But nothing is mention under CRAFT WANDS. I guess this can be DM's call.

Make your wands out of andamantine sticks with +5 enhancements to increase HP/Hardness even more.
To be practical try making your wands out of iron and making them extra thick.
