When is this contest taking place? I really think you should post a round-by-round description of the fight here...

Heck, you and your DM should make it the best 2 of 3 so you can get a chance to beat each others strategies.

I agree, but I predict Dragon = 3 PC (any Dragon killer) = 0

K this is what i've come up with for now.

18th lvl Wizard
grey Elf
STR 10
DEX 16
CON 14
INT 30
WIS 12
CHA 8

Feats: Extend Spell, Impr. Ini. Leadership
Maximize Spell, Still Spell, Spell Focus (Evocation, Necromancy, Transmutation)
Spell Penetration

Magic Items: Ring of Spell Turning, Ring of Counterspells (Dispel Magic), Tome of Understanding +5, Headband of Intellect +6, Scarab of Protection, Ioun stone (8th level spell absorbtion), Mantle of Spellresistance SR 21, Cloak of Resistence +5, Boots of Speed

This is just using the PHB and the DMG, likewise my DM is limited to the MM and the DMG and PHB. And this is not me trying to "beat" my DM, we were just curious to see how far an 18th level character would come against a Great Wyrm.

Anyone have any ideas of what magic items I should use, I have 440000 gold to spend on items. Please just use the DMG.

And no my DM does not read these boards I think. So let's combine our intellects and lay the smack down on this dragon. I will try to find out what colour.

Oh and any ideas for my cohort would be nice, I'm thinking paladin/meatshield

P.S. Contest should take place in about 2 weeks, I'll keep you guys posted. I'll put in a round-by-round report, will make notes whilst getting my ass kicked I guess. Bunch of defeatist ppl on these boards. I WILL beat this dragon dammit

Pretend you appear next to the dragon and it is similarly equipped.

save your money the mantle of SR doesn't stack and the dragon will automatically overcome it

get empower metamagic feat(adds 1.5 times to damage) but costs 2 spell levels

A lot depends on who gets initiative when Time Stop is involved.
