Craft Song [Item Creation]

Prerequisite: Spellcaster level 1st+.

Benefit: The character can create a song of any spell that the character knows. crafting a song takes 1 day for each 1,000 gp in its base price. The base price of a song is its spell level multiplied by its caster level multiplied by 25 gp. To craft a song, the character must spend 1/25 of this base price in XP and use up raw materials costing half of this base price.

Any song that uses a spell with a costly material component or an XP cost also carries a commensurate cost. In addition to the costs derived from the base price, the character must expend the material component or pay the XP when crafting the song.

My DM has approved this in the idea stage, but I'm not comfortable enough with the various rules-sets to formalize it. Any thoughts. My idea was that the bard can spend XP to add a magical quality to a song and have it do a spell-like effect... the major limitation I see is the Bard being limited to spells known...

any thoughts?

Your title is misleading :)

What does this feat do? Is a song like a scroll? Like a wand? Like a wonderous item? Why would a bard choose to take this feat? What do you want to accomplish with it?

When it comes down to it, sorcerers and bards can often find Item Creation feats frustrating because of their limited number of spells known. So far as I know, scrolls could be used to help in the process but I am not sure about that.
