Help me with a sorcerer build!

First Post
Whenever I visit my parents, I try to game with my old gaming group from my hometown. This means I tend to play "guest star" characters which will only appear sporadically in the campaign.

One of these is a Sorcerer in a Pathfinder wilderness campaign (the "Kingmaker" series, I believe it it is called...). He is best described as a "hippie" - the other PCs were stumbling across him when he was searching for "magic mushrooms".

He has the Fey Bloodline (seemed appropriate), and the last time I played him he was at level 2. Now the PCs have progressed to level 6, and it's time to update him.

At level 2, he had the feats: Skill Focus (Prof: Herbalist), Eschew Materials, and Spell Focus (Enchantment). He had the following spells:

0: Dancing Lights
0: Daze
0: Detect Magic
0: Message
0: Ray of Frost

1: Hypnotism
1: Summon Monster I

Now, while these spells seemed thematically appropriate, I feel like I made a mistake with the 1st-level spells - they do not scale well at higher levels. So now I want to pick spells for his new level that scale better - preferably some compulsion spells (thanks to his massive DC bonus to them), but since not all monsters will be susceptible to compulsion spells he needs some other spells that will make him effective in combat without resorting to these.

Any suggestions for what spells to pick - and what spell to replace at 4th and 6th level? And what feats would be useful? Assume anything from the Core and the Advanced Player's Guide is fair game.

Suggestion? He doesn't seem the type to make people do things, Suggestion is more "Hey man, why don't we relax and sit over here?"

Hold person with a High DC is a close to automatic kill on a lot of monsters, especially if you have melee guys to coup-de-grace.

Take fog cloud and their relatives.

They go well with this guy's "hippie" feel and are surprisingly useful.

Also look for transmutations. I can see him/her casting Enlarge Person on himself and then going "Duuude... my hands look sooo biiig!"

Btw, the color you chose for your text is virtually invisible against ENWorld's black background setting. Just sayin'.

My default color is white... I've never had this problem before!

Does it have anything to do with the fact that I copied it from a Ms Word archive instead of writing it directly here?

Can you see this message too?

Is this weird hippie sorcerer messing with my mind!?

Too many questions...

Probably the cut & paste was the culprit.

On the whole "hippy sorcerer" thing- I have a Clc/Sorc/M-T/Geomancer who is based somewhat upon a certain arc of DC Comic's Swamp Thing stories. DC's character grew psychedelic healing tubers- and others- on his body: eat the tubers, have a vision and have your healing enhanced.

My PC has taken only the plantlike Drift options for the Geomancer class, and at some point, will be taking Craft Potion to do likewise...

Why are you writing a reply on MS word then copying it is the real question.

I do that a lot, because several forums (including this one, on occasion) have eaten my posts. I usually use Notepad++ instead of MS Word, though.
