D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

Covers of Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun and Forgotten Realms: Adventures in Faerun.
We've known for some time that in November, WotC will be releasing not one but two Forgotten Realms books--one aimed at players, the other at Dungeon Masters. Thanks to Game Informer, we now have a look at the covers of Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun and Forgotten Realms: Adventures in Faerun. The article showcases more art, and is well worth checking out--and for those who want more, the print magazine has a full feature previewing the books.

You realize that AI art imitates existing artists, right? You're basically saying "the second a machine can replicate what you do, you need to reinvent yourself or leave the industry."
Yes, that does not mean it’s good. If your audience has told you they don’t want AI art and you insist on presenting AI art to save a buck you risk alienating that audience m. WOTC has received backlash already for using prior AI art and pledged not to do so. This makes them suspect.

Who is"they" in this sentence? My issue is that people cry "AI wolf" so much at real art made my real artists just because they don't like said art, to the point that if everyone keeps confusing real art with AI, that they can start using AI and most of the people crying wolf won't be believed. In essence, muddying the water by calling all art you dislike AI makes it easier for them to slip real AI in undetected.
You make a rather broad and unsubstantiated statement. I said those two art pieces look like AI art and I gave reasons for my assertion. People have defended it by saying it looks like AI art but it’s not. If people are posting that it looks similar to AI art then the “artist” is muddying the waters with their poor art. Real art IMO does not look like AI art.

I'm not a mental health professional but believing everything is a fake created by AI with no evidence is usually indicative of psychiatric issues. Seek help.

The only reason I find that you think this looks like AI art is:
'Very bland background. Odd facial features'

Neither of these statements relate to the covers of the books in question or AI art, IMO.
Personally I look for too many fingers or weird blurring or clipping of images when trying to pick AI art.

These are the alternative covers, stitched together into one large print.

Source: I’m at GenCon and this is the print they are giving out. The WotC employees at the booth told us they are the alternative covers.
Aw naughty word, that’s the work of Dominik Mayer, one of my favorite artists for D&D. He did the art for the first Dragon Delves adventure too.

The probability of me buying these books just went from unlikely to likely.

Art, man. Art

Thanks for the name drop!

I recognize the style from Dragon Age somehow. Not sure if TTRPG, comic, or game art...?

Edit: Not the same person despite being very similar.

I have a suspicion they deliberately blandify the standard covers in order to sell more special edition books. Thus avoiding the issue with Ghosts of Saltmarsh, where the standard cover was better than the special cover.
