Also and I know this is likely old news, but why Occultism? Why? That's such a random change....
Paizo wanted to integrate at the outset the different magic of the world that it has established in their publications while also streamlining the spell lists. So they had the idea of four different magical essences: spiritual, vital, material, and mental. Each spell list is assembled with a combination of these essences in mind and there is a governing skill associated with each spell list.

Material/Mental -> Arcane Spell List -> Arcana
Spiritual/Vital -> Divine Spell List -> Religion
Mental/Spiritual -> Occult Spell List -> Occultism
Material/Vital -> Primal Spell List -> Nature

Bards now use the Occult spell list. Druids use the Primal spell list. The Sorcerer spell list depends on which bloodline they choose.

The character sheet is kind of awful, but I am boarding the PF2 hype train.

I was actually thinking the cluttered page filled with tons of boxes that seem rather arcane (and not in a magical way) will just spook a lot of potential players. Heck, I'm already a Pathfinder player, and that page looks rather intimidating in a bad way as it is now. It looks like just too much book keeping. I've seen players run for the hills with less stressful sheets before, so this one isn't likely to win friends. It looks more like slapping tax forms in front of somebody than part of a game.
As to the color thing, just grab the printer friendly version so you don't have to empty an entire ink tank per page.

Even the printer-friendly might do a number on your black cartridge, but, aesthetically, evokes a 3e sheet.
Don't see the problem

"Hero points" have been around for a while. A form was in the 3e Unearthed Arcana called "Action Points". They're in the 5E DMG. I want to say I remember using them even back in 2E but unsure if it was an official supplement or something from Dragon Magazine.
They were in house rules all the way back. I remember a DM using them when running the original Boot Hill back in the 1970s.

I think it's not too bad. It is not pretty, but clear and functional.
It even made me want to try PF2, until I found myself on the second page with the blank space for feat lists and remembered the amount of things I have to handle in game.
Yeah... I'll stick with 5e. Thanks.

At least I can say that reading ENworld comments today at work has been work related.

It'll make a perfect case study for junior designers on how not to do things :heh:

So they changed "Race" to "Ancestry". Thats just an example of many of how Paizo is letting the reality of politics into their RPG. They don't want to offend the eternally offended by changing the terms of game mechanics in their game.
Don't do that here, please.

Call me crazy but I think I actually prefer the black and white "design atrocity" to the slimmed down retro sheet. Sure, maybe there are too many pages and the first one is probably rather too busy, but most of it is pretty clean, well delineated, and expansive; very good for quicker referencing for those lacking in system mastery.

And if you want to actually plan your character ahead it is pretty easy to lightly write down the feats you plan to take. Heck, if you have a lot of time to kill you could practically write in your whole advancement in the proper spots and then just pencil over it darker when you actually reach that level.

I understand the distaste some of you have for it, but I think we should withhold judgement until we can actually use it in play.

Now the brown colour scheme of the colour one; I would be interested to hear the justification for that.

"Withhold Judgement" on the Internet??? Heresy!

So I tried to see what it would look like if I made a comprehensive code character sheet for the boards here using the same expansive principles and it is... long, heh. Maybe not as long on the page because of sblocking but it is REAL long in Notepad.

Edit: Think I forgot the code tags to make the sections with the numbers, particularly skills and equipment, to line up nicely. This is just a rough up in any case. PbP folks, if we do much PF2 here, would probably prefer it be a bit more bare bones.
