What possible relevance does that have to hex? Or, well, anything? So what if you are pushed off a cliff?

IMO, it is a matter of not tempting fate / lady luck / your idiom of choice. It's one thing to go over a cliff by accident. Or to do so heroically, like the hero who throws himself off to save someone from falling. Quite another to intentionally swan dive onto sharp rocks because you have 200 HP and know (in the meta sense) that it can't kill you.So what if you are pushed off a cliff?
Well actually it's primarily for something else, but we aren't allowed to talk about in on a generally family friendly website. You lot stop squabbling about how falling damage logic works this instant or so help me Ioun I'll bring up the notion of HP being an abstraction of many things including luck. AND YOU'LL REGRET IT.
...Aw, who am I kidding, the internet is for squabbling. Carry on.

There are people in real life who risk injury doing stupid things.I think we need to note a few things. I've already said that I would warn the player if their actions would bring about their death. Omitting that from your example makes me look like a callous jerk and I think that's unfair. Another important thing to note is that the player has a good narrative reason for wanting to jump. He didn't just decide to jump because he didn't want to take the time to walk or something silly like that.
