Somewhat. I'm kind of in an 'eh' mood at the moment...maybe I'm just tired
Yeah, that works. I'm just perpetually bored these days. I have stuff to do a lot of the time, but no actual plans until the end of August - and I don't have any friends in the area to do things that don't require planning. Thus, when I'm not working (chores, 'cause I couldn't find a summer job anywhere!) I sit and do squat. I'm seriously considering giving into the lure of MMORPG's right about now... :(

I'm half writing an article, half cleaning up my desk and half reading the boards.

And that doesn't add up :D
It's ok, s'long as you're a better writer than you are a mathematician. :p

God, I'm working on it. I've never touched one, and been bloody well proud of it, but... I'm so very bored, I haven't played an RPG with other people since February, and the Star Wars fan in me keeps sneaking peeks at Galaxies...

[Edit cause I don't wanna wait 60 seconds.] Reading a snippet sounds fun. Wave one my way. :)

What's happening oh lord of posts?

Reading the boards and relaxing in AC. Actually got to play in a Buffy gam,e tonight, so that was really cool. But overall the gaming duldrums have set in. I'm just not inspired anymore. I think I need to go back to running what I really like, but no one wants to play that......

And what game is that? And is the Buffy game any good? I finally gave in and watched the show as you and Randomling suggested... I'm now a fanatical guy with every released DVD season and Angel S2 on preorder for September. :) I gotta admit I'm curious whether the game's as good.

Here you go...

The following excerpts are taken from The Eternalscrolls, a series of six scrolls detailing the Knights of the Eternal Order. This is the first time this has been seen outside of the Order’s vast library.

“In a time long since past I sat upon a rocky cliff, watching a storm brewing out upon an endless expanse of ocean. My armour lay on the rocks beside me, my bastard sword discarded a few feet away. I sat, watching the lightning dancing upon the waves, and pondered a simple question: Why?

“Why is their good and evil? Why is their violence and death, and why, for that matter, does life exist? Why do people love, why do people hate?

“Why is the world the way it is?

“These questions gnawed at me and for long hours I sat, listening to the thunder clash above me, and watching the lightning as it illuminated the darkening sky. I sat as the rain tumbled from black clouds and the wind sent large waves crashing onto the beach beneath me.

“After a time the rain cleared and the clouds withdrew, the thunder quietened and the lightning finished its merry dance. At that precise moment I knew what I wanted to do with my life. Vowing to discover the answers to the world’s secrets, I gathered up my sword and armour and set off on my mission.

“Several weeks later, I found myself trailing a group of thieves. They had stolen several tomes of ancient lore from a tower and had left the owner – a young wizard – knocking on death’s door. Discovering the thieves’ hideout, I entered cautiously, but soon found myself face to face with over a dozen armed men. Although badly outnumbered, I was a highly trained warrior; I fought gallantly and managed to disable most of my opponents in short order.
“Unfortunately, the thieves’ leader was a powerful sorcerer; a spell of paralysis managed to stop me in my tracks. I was immediately overwhelmed and, believe it or not, killed.

“My vows to find and protect knowledge were so strong that even death could not prevent me from honouring them. It was weird, in a way. One minute I was laying in a pool of blood, the next I found myself standing up again, desiring nothing more than to retrieve the books. Sword in hand, I advanced upon the sorcerer. The thieves attacked again, stabbing and slashing at me, until I was once more laying face down in my own blood.

“Again I got up, my dedication to the cause defying the powers of the gods of death. Seeing this unrelenting, unkillable warrior advancing upon them once more was too much for thieves, who promptly fled. The sorcerer tried in vain to destroy me but was too slow, and was quickly killed for his efforts.

“Gathering the books, I journeyed back to the wizard’s tower to return the tomes to their owner. Upon arrival, I sadly discovered that the wizard had died. After a quick funeral, I decided to stay in the tower to learn all I could from the deceased wizard’s library.
“Over the years, I found more and more instances of people using knowledge for evil purposes. This angered me greatly, for although I did all he could to stop it, alas there was just too much for me to handle by myself. Rather than give up out of frustration, I sought out like-minded people, searching far and wide across the lands of the world, and gathered them around me, teaching them to fight evil and training them in the ways of the scholar. Within the space of a few months, the first batch of students was ready; they were to become the first members of the Knights of the Eternal Order.”

I like the Buffy game, it is very true to te series. The system is very simple (for instance all you need is a single d10) It's a point system and classless although there are three distinctive type of characters: White hats, heros, and experienced heroes. I really like it, but check it out for yourself here:

In August the Angel RPG is coming out :D
