And now we play the waiting game. They announced season 3 was ordered around the start of season 2 airing, so we have at least a year before we get new episodes?

On that note, happy Max cancellation day for those who observe!

So on the one hand, this season was a VERY slow burn most of the time. Especially the Daemon stuff, though it turned out like I hoped and I do like his character arc, we could have gotten there like 2-3 episodes sooner. Ultimately this season will be remembered more as an advertisement for season 3 imo than standing on its own.

But.... considering the massive issue I had with GOT season 8 (and season 7 in part) just moving things forward at light speed to the point of plot insanity....I welcome a slower and more thoughtful pace. I would prefer things move a LITTLE bit faster, but if that's the two speeds I'm offered, I'll take the slower pace everytime.

If I were to nitpick a scene in this one, its the Gwain and Cole scene. Just because we have had this big secret the whole season, and its gets let out because Cole sniffs a piece of fabric..... and then they just have a talk about it and that's kind of it for now. Felt weird and anti-climatic, it was just there to give Cole something to do.....which ironically is to talk about how little he matters anymore. Actually even more funny (and I wonder if it was planned this way) if you watch the making of the episode after it aires....they don't mention Cole's scene at all. It does seem that Cole truly has been forgotten by those that matter ;)

So I have 2 book questions I'm hesitant to ask because this is a spoiler thread for the TV show and not the book. DM me if you want to answer, please don't respond in this thread.

1. Without getting into specifics on HOW it ends, does the book come to an ending that feels like an ending or is this just the start of another series that GRRM may or may not finish in time for the people making the show to have proper source material to work with?

2. How much of the book has been covered so far in the show?

I wish there was more exposition around Aemond and less on Daemon. It would seem they are increasingly pushing Aemond into the mad king bucket and it would be nice to see that develop. Instead we get quick hits of an entire town being burned out cause he is mad, but entirely drawn out dream sequences about Daemon and his ambitions instead.

I didnt mind it. I think Gwain knew which had him suspicious of Cole this whole time. Cole sitting there with Allicent's hanky gave him the pretext to challenge Cole on the spot, if he wanted to. Though, Gwain is realizing that Cole is right in that they are all just fodder in a war with dragons, which makes everything seem moot. My guess is these two have a part to play in the next season and this little point of exposition will lay the base for it.

They basically went from him having therapy sessions in a brothel to burning a town to vent his anger without a whole lot in between.

I found it odd he publicly embarrassed his sister loudly in front of the troops......

I appreciated the speech. The feeling of what it would be like to actually face dragons.

I'm still wondering why they didn't ambush Aemond on his dragon in the previous episode. Also, how do they not have a dragon watching the blockade? So many tactics that seem obvious that no one does.
